Terrible execution of good idea

Looks like a college Programming class project app. U-g-l-y. No info on breweries. Limited beers. Could be fun but not this offering. Spend your time drinking instead. Cheers!

A great start

Fantastic start to a great app but seems to be 3 key features missing for me, so unfortunately I'll be deleting the app: 1) There's no way to add my own personal notes, e.g. was it just meh or really bad, did it come in can or on tap, etc. Or a rating out of 50 points, for example. 2) I'm not on Facebook so I have no way to share with my friends. Privately with friends online via invitation would be great, so that they can see my notes & info inside their app! 3) There's no way to backup data and I'd hate to lose my entire beer journal if anything happened to my phone. If these features are added I would surely come back. Thanks!

Smooth design, great beer selection, passable UX

The app looks great and performs as advertised. It's a good way to keep track of your favorite (and not-so-favorite) brews. However, it can be difficult to search for beers, especially foreign beers, with difficult-to-spell or very short names. The search results don't always seem organized in the most relevant fashion. The "satchel" would benefit from an organization system other than 'lets add the beers in the order the user put them into the app'; a choice between ordering by type/date entered/alphabetical would be a huge improvement. The ability to filter by beer type would also be excellent. The barcode scanner definitely makes this app worthwhile. I'll keep it in my satchel and hope for more updates.

Almost everything I’ve been looking for

I’ve been looking for a simple app to keep track of the beers I’ve tried and like and maybe more importantly the ones I don’t like so I don’t try them again. This app accomplishes this very well. The only reasons I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is there are a few features I wish it had. 1. the ability to add a beer that is now found. I’ve only run across one so far, but with all the new micro brews coming out I”m sure another will be missed at some point. 2. a way to attach a picture to the listing. 3. a rating for each beer. Even though I do like the simple save in satchel for the ones you like and the thumbs down for the ones you don’t. I would still like to be able to rate the ones I like on some sort of scale. 4. Maybe a quick note section for each beer so you can save your own comments about the beer.

Could use more info

The set up is great and has tons of beers. It would be very helpful if you could also provide nutritional information to include serving size, calories, carbs and protein.

Doesn't work

Does nothing?

A little more?

I like the concept. I've needed a way to remember beers that I've seen and wanted to try. I haven't been able to find all beers that I've searched for and it would be really nice to make notes on each beer before or after you've tried it!

Great App

A lot of the other beer apps are cluttered, confusing and hard to use. After playing with a number of them, I came across Beer Satchel. The app is super clean and the interface is very easy to use. If you are currently rating your beers from 1-5 stars… stop. You are wasting your time. Is this 3.5 or 4 stars. Please. The truth is that there are really only 3 categories. Beers you would drink again, beers you wouldn’t, and beer you want to try. Everything else is just pretentious nonsense and a waste of your time. Beer Satchel breaks things down into those categories. Make your life easier and and try this no nonsense beer app today. (upon reading what I’ve typed I think I sound like a commercial because i like the app so much so let me say this. I am not affiliated with Beer Satchel in any way and do, nor have I or will I receive any payment from them for this review)

Great idea, room for improvement

I like the idea and the data that comes with it. I also appreciate the inclusion of hard ciders (I have celiac disease and can't drink beer). But . . . - there need to be other options besides the two groups that are basically love it or hate it - there should indeed be different aspects--some of which might have a pick list or scale--that we can grade each brew by - support for cloud backup, so that I can access my data on different devices and restore in case I need to reset

Good idea, fine design, bad database.

I live in Portland, Oregon, where excellent beers abound. I suppose this is a good app for Bud Light and Corona drinkers but cannot handle superior brews; therefore this is of no use to me and probably of no use to other fellow beer enthusiasts.
