BeepApp! is a communication app that only young people can use. It uses a high frequency tone 14 800hz, unhearable for adults, to enable youngsters to communicate to each in the same room. Start beeping today!
“Research shows that the human ear loses the ability to hear higher frequencies when we get older. The hearing is at its best among young people who are able to hear really high pitched frequencies, while people after 50 year aren’t able to hear frequencies over 14 000hz” - Martin Ljungdahl Eriksson, sonic designer.
How it works
BeepApp! uses a high pitched frequency of 14 800hz to get young peoples attention in situation where they cannot use other type of communication. Classrooms, libraries, dinner tables – beep is useable everywhere youngsters want to get attention from their friends without letting adults know!
With just the push of a button the app sends out a clear and high-pitched frequency that will get everyone’s attention – unless you are an adult.
BeepApp! is of course free so download it today and start beeping away with your friends!

I downloaded this and played with it before I tested it with a kid. To my 40 year old ears, it sounds like a quick static sound. I tried it with my ten year old and she said, "what is that?" She imitated the volume of it for me and was surprised that I didn't hear it. So I guess it works. But what could it be used for? It's not like kids know morse code these days.
There is no way any grown-up (sorry adult or old man as my dad calls himself) can hear this app. Four of my friends and I decided to learn Morse Code because it seems to be the only way to use the app. One of us was too lazy so we went back to plain old SMS but it was a blast anyway and we still play tricks on our folks though the dogs in the neighbor are starting to go crazy.
