Bebot - Robot Synth

Bebot is a musical instrument that anyone can play. Instead of a keyboard, it has an easy-to-use touch control system. And it's all built into a friendly animated robot, who performs your music while you play.

Although it looks simple on the outside, inside is a powerful synth engine which lets you create and edit your own sounds and apply effects. The controls are simple to use, making it fun to tinker and experiment with sound. If you just want to get playing, there's also a wide selection of preset sounds.

The touch control system lets you lock in a scale so that you'll never play a wrong note, which makes it easy to play, even on your iPhone. It's polyphonic, which means you can use multiple fingers at once to play chords and harmonies. Plus, you can perform sweeping slides and expressive gestures that would be practically impossible on a regular keyboard.

Although it's been designed to be simple and fun, that doesn't mean it's only for beginners. Bebot has been used both on stage and in the studio by accomplished musicians and performers including Dream Theater, How To Destroy Angels and The Flaming Lips.

To see and hear Bebot in action, check out the demo videos at normalware.com, including a walkthrough demo by keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess.

Now with Audiobus and Inter-App Audio, you can connect Bebot to other apps such as GarageBand to record, multitrack and add effects, making Bebot more versatile and useful than ever. For more information about Audiobus, visit http://audiob.us/

How I wish...
Dhiro

that this has MIDI and worked as an audio unit! So many synth apps, yet none sound so good for such a humble set of parameters as BeBot! Please dev keep this alive and bring it another step forward in usefulness!!

What a voice!

This is just such a gem. It is polyphonic. For each touch, another voice shows up and follows your fingertips. Feed this into a reverb unit and you have a phenomenal droner.

The best

Why hasn’t midi been added?Bebot is good but with midi it could do more.If by chance there is an update anytime soon please add midi support.

Bebot isn’t iPhone X friendly :(
malnar

One of my favorite apps of all time but it doesn’t play well with the gesture-based all-screen iPhone X-models. I’d even pay again for a new Bebot that does work correctly, if that helps the developer.

Kids love him!

I always open this app when little kids want to play with my phone, and they always love it.

Such a great little thing

This not only can be used to create music, it can be used for fun! The little smile on the robots face is amazing! Keep it up!

Incredible! More looping functionality?

I absolutely love this app. It has honestly brought me so much joy since I’ve downloaded it, and I’ve used it in both casual and more “serious” musical contexts. One thing that I think would be amazing is updating the functionality of the looping on the app; being able to control exactly how long loops are, perhaps adding a click track, making much longer loops, and other functions would bring this to the next level for me. Thank you for making such an amazing product though.

Wonderful!!!

I’ve struggled with stress and anxiety pretty bad for the last 5 years due to my UC diagnosis and just... life’s glorious disappointments. I don’t remember the last time an app made me smile this much. “Wonderful” is about the best way to describe it for me. Maybe you could bring the app into the 2019-2020 standard with just a few UI tweaks, and get this baby on the front page of the App Store to put smiles on the faces of millions who are struggling like me (and finally compensate you guys for this whimsically wonderful app). Wishing you all the best, -Ken Jones, OKC, OK

Why complaining?

It’s just an app for passing the time. My 7yo daughter and I enjoy it immensely. We don’t play anything as one would play a piano. It’s for having a good time. For just making nonsense yet at the same time it’s very soothing. Sometimes, when I’m just by myself I might pull it out and play with it. I guess the app has been around since 2010, maybe ‘11. I’m glad it still is. It deserves its own place as something unique and not cheesy. I hope it never goes out of date. Best regards to the dev and for the rest of the people, download it.
