Simply awesome!

Terry Bradford aka"Mr.fingers"

I am a studio owner who uses a lot a different software to record professionally. I also use a lot of UVI stuff. When I can’t get in the studio I normally take my little iPad or iPhone with me and I do a lot of creating using BeatHawk, once I get back to my recording studio it is at that time that I will bounce all of my tracks down to the DAW that I use. Trust me when I tell you there is no quality loss on those files when it comes to be mixed in my DAW! I think they should have named Beat hawk beat beast!!!???❤️??????

Beathawk review

I gave this 4 out of 5. I saw some reviews via soundtestroom with Doug on YouTube and ended up not just purchasing the app, but 14 EXPANSION packs. I am disappointed there wasn’t a keyboard expansion pack (electric piano, continental organ and Hammond, acoustic piano )included. The disco expansion is limited and it should have had more options with the disco strings, bass and guitar hooks. The Mellotron pack was missing some instruments on the list like: tenor sax, woodwind, French horn, Cello, sad and soft strings, trumpet, harpsichord and MKII piano. I don’t know if UVI will update the apps in the future with these add ins, but these add ins would definitely push it up to a 5 star app.

Great at what it does but Would like to see added features

Jonhedoesit

The workflow for what it does is amazing! There needs to be additional pad banks and a convenient way to chop long samples. If they figure out how to add this without ruining the workflow this could be like a spiritual successor to old School MPCs. I’d gladly pay more if they added these features.

Beathawk is truly a bargain

John Hurt's Ghost

The instrument sounds in this app are great and I learned the interface from scratch in under 30min with no previous experience using loop oriented music recording software and wrote the sketch of a blues rock song in about an hour and sent it to musician friends. All in all the quality of sounds and the ease of use earn this app a 10 star review. The only reasons I didn’t give it a 5 star review are the relative lack of Blues/Rock oriented instrument packs and I’d like their file exporting to be a bit easier. That was the only place I had troubles with using the app (there are simple workarounds and all, but this app has such amazing capabilities that why not just shoot for the stars). The piano sound is actually good and holds its own to other standalone apps, the baroque instruments are the same (blew my mind), the Hammond is gorgeous, and the electric pianos, Mellotron (different league than Module’s, but not as good as UVI’s own for their computer Workstation), blues guitars, and drum kits and all very useable. I haven’t even plugged a keyboard into this to write yet, but I can tell you it just makes it all easier to play. Extremely good app for the money and hard drive space. Really, combined with GarageBand and Hokusai, it’s everything you need for all app pro quality music production. 20 yrs ago, this would have been unimaginable. 10 years ago, still impossible. Now, it’s actually cheap! Lol. What a time to be alive.

Delayed updates broken preset recall

fiftyfivefiftyfive

Wonderful app but preset recall on projects with multiple instances of beathawk have been broken for over 6 months. When I wrote support about this I was told it would be fixed in September. It is now almost December. Support just told me that they have no ETA on an update now and no beta version for this fix...please fix this and I will update my review

Super disappointed

Jazzbot

I have been making beats/songs in GarageBand and had been getting to the point where I was running out of sounds when I found out about using other Apps as Audio Unit Extensions via GarageBand. After buying this app, I quickly realized that the way it is set up with pads renders usability of instruments useless. You can basically only set up 16 pads/sounds and that’s it. If I am missing something, I would love be told and shown different. Also, it’s disappointing and misleading that it comes with a small amount of instruments and yet plenty of instrument/sound packs to purchase. The UI needs substantial improvement along with its interactivity with GarageBand. With lots of improvements, I’d be happy to change my rating. That or just let GarageBand add your sounds to their library.

I’ve integrated this into my work flow over the last 2 years

theartofyoga

It’s a great app with some of the nicest sounding sample packs for sale on iOS . There is just one glaring issue with the app, the piano roll is a laggy mess in AUV3 at least on my iPad Pro 10.5, it’s been like this forever. Try to move a note on the piano roll and random notes appear. I wish the piano roll was closer to NanoStudio 2s design which is flawless execution. I’ve spent more on this app than any other music app, so I would expect the bugs to eventually be worked out. Haven’t yet.

Romper not a MPC

mushroom jesus

Was expecting more want my money back , it’s a rompler not software like BeatMaker 3.

Almost Perfect

Chrisbowmusic

I’d give this 5 stars if I could auto-populate drum kit sounds onto the 16 pads when loaded.

Almost everything I was looking 4

nut the beatnut

This production app is great! For the most part fairly easy and has some great sounds .All the exp packs are high quality and priced nice. Only thing I would love on a update is to be able to load a drum kit that feels all 16 pads. Also I would pay a upgrade fee for audio tracks to lay vocals instead of stemming this to cubasis 3 or reason or cubase in my laptop . Thanks for all your hard work .
