Learn Basic French - Spoken In French?
rlikis

This app uses a Frenchman as teacher, which should make great sense. But his dialect is so very difficult to pronounce that it’s all but impossible to retain… much less for beginners to speak. I would have appreciated someone who spoke fluent English who could translate both languages into easier sounds that “connect” the student. This app would have easily been of greater use if its teacher - who spoke in French – attempted to create syllables rather than slurred French language. Even simple phrases such as "goodbye" (formal) "au revoir" are spoken with what sounds to a novice like me as slurred. I was especially disappointed in this app because I chose it on the merits of "Something for Dummies.” If I didn't know better, I'd swear the voice originated from some computer program..perhaps it was?

Great app
Feigning

I bought this app to try and catch up to the french 1 class at my school halfway thru the year. This app works so well that I learn more on a few minutes of this than the equivalent of everything so far in my Spanish class Really a great app

Sound doesn't work :(
momoshubambo

Love it but I can't hear the French. Please help!

Where's the audio?
Badue

Great app. But the audio bug needs to be fixed. If I could get sound, I'd give it 5 stars.

Turn on your sound. (switch on side)

This is a pretty good app. Yes the Frenchman translating is hard to follow- but French pronunciation is very different than English. I think our tongues just have difficulty forming the same sounds. Also for those who can't hear audio; when my phone is on silent the audio doesn't work; you need the sound on. To do this simply flip the switch on your left of the iPhone. Sometimes the hardest things in life are the simplest :-) Good luck learning French!! I think this app definitely helps!!

needs some work
bowman296

the content is great, but the only problem i have with the app is some of the lists in the "basics" section dont seem to be working properly. some of them i can only partially view because for some reason or another whenever i scroll down it jumps right back to the top of the page. that part definitely needs to be fixed. there didn't appear to be any problems outside of the "basics" section, but the items in that section definitely do need to be fixed before i would recommend this app to anyone. its very frustrating to have something you paid for not work properly, no matter how minor the problem is. great content, but some problems, hence the 2-star review.

Good app

On my way to perfect French. Another good app for learning French would be 24/7 french phrases. It quizzes you and grades you on it. It's pretty unique. And really helpful.
