Worst update ever!!!!!

There have been so many changes that completely have changed the feel of this game. From the new avatar appearance and ones ability to rate other players as good or bad being removed, to the speed that the pieces move on the board. But the most grievous is the fact that ones opponent's dice will be different numbers then what they move. This has happened 6 times to me since the last update while they were coming in from being on the bar. For example they roll a 6-4 yet come in on the 5. This is completely unacceptable!!!!!!!! I have deeply enjoyed playing backgammon with people from all over the world and monitoring my stats within the game for over a year with this app but now will look for a different app to use!!!!

I usually play matches of five games and I cannot find a way to lose since the last update. The computer makes poor choices and it is all slower now.

. . .but I don't like being forced to play as a hooded male character who smokes. I also hoped that you would fix the impossible dice configuration in the opening screen. The five cannot be next to the two; I'm sure you know that the opposite sides of a dice must equal seven, so the five and two must be on opposite sides, not adjacent. Lastly, I don't know if it is my bad luck or part of the programming, but I rarely win the first roll. I've actually kept statistics. Against the computer, I lose the first roll of the dice about 70% of the time! I do love your game, though, I play it every day! Perhaps my info can improve it a bit. Thank you.

The latest update is awful. It moves extremely slow, and there's times where I have the opponent completely blocked, and it still allows the opponent to roll? Please switch it back.

Attention advertisers! This was a reasonably good backgammon game until the recent update. Although the "Apprentice" now makes smarter moves, the blatantly fixed dice rolls have ruined this app. Consistent double-6s, frequent doubles during bearing off, frequent "perfect" rolls when only one roll can get the "Apprentice" out of a jam or do damage to me -- all have taken the fun out of this app. That means I'll be looking elsewhere for a backgammon app. Which also means I won't be seeing the ads on this one.

I was very disappointed to see the latest version of this game has numerous changes that make it less enjoyable to play. First, a user used to be able to tap almost anywhere on the screen to roll the dice, which was amazingly convenient. Now, the game requires the user to actually tap directly on the dice, which is annoying. Second, the animation of the checker movement used to be snappy and quick, now it's really sluggish and annoying, even when the game is set to "quick animation". When the AI is bearing off, this is most noticeable, particularly when the AI gets doubles and it takes five times as long as it used to to move four pieces. Finally, it seems like the game used to be a little more forgiving if I didn't place my finger precisely onto a checker or the place I was trying to move it to. Now it requires almost exact location of finger movements, resulting in a lot more unsuccessful attempts to make a move. This means it now takes two or three tries to make a move that the old version would have recognized the first time.

I started counting the dice rolls because they seemed not to be random. I guess it is because I play the free game but in 200 rolls my opponent had 45 doubles to my 21. The odds on the rolls definitely favored my opponent when a blot was exposed, seeing rolls with odds of 18 to 1 to get a hit on me showing up multiple times in a game. The objective is obviously to get you to pay for chips. I am going to find another game as this one is manipulated.
