I have used the Babbel program in Spanish, French, and German. My experience in all three is that I made rapid progress, even though I started from little or no background in French and German. I find the exercises fun and rewarding. I recommend the Babbel program.

How am I even supposed to use the app on my iPhone if Adobe Flash is required? Why have this as on the Apple app store if the product fails on the iPhone?

I'm Chinese, I want to learn English, but at very beginning, it asks me which language do I want to display, there is neither Chinese nor English, only French / Italian... Etc.... How can I study English with not my mother language. NG

I initially tried learning Italian on Pimsleur and found it deadeningly slow. The program taught me a very (very) short list of artificial phrases over the course of many half-hour lessons and used tremendous amounts of English instruction to get me there. After that, Babbel was a breath of fresh air. It is a truly excellent language-learning tool, for a very reasonable price. The pace is quick, and you don't get weighed down in repetitions while still picking up the vocabulary very smoothly. And the content is very impressive. The program focuses on phrases in context, using conversations as a platform for reinforcing learned words and learning new vocabulary, and then throws in a grammar lesson at various intervals to deepen the learner's understanding of what they are doing. Doing Babbel's beginner Italian course has felt like studying the language with a fantastic human teacher. Can't wait to put my Italian into practice when I go to Italy!

There is so much stuff here that it will take a long time to finish. The app goes over previously studied material so that you don't forget it. It is well made but needs a little more colour.

I though I was an idiot ( for signing up for this I probably am) until I read about how hard it was to cancel. Beware
???WHY THO???
So I love the game and it's very helpful to learn a language but after the first lesson you have to buy a subscription and it cost like $9.99 for ONLY ONE month. It's way too overpriced. And why should I have to pay money to play a game that I got because it was free?!??
