Axel's Chain Reaction has become one of my top 5 storybook apps! This developer has done an outstanding job creating an interactive app with an incredible storyline. Meet Axel, a young boy with lots of energy and creativity. I love this app for opening up dialogue with students regarding personal space, tolerance, patience, frustration and so much more. This book offers open-ended conversation opportunities about real life home and school situations. A science and art based storyline will keep the future engineer engaged all the way through 'til the last page! Axel's Chain Reaction has a lot of things going for it. The illustrations are lovely and the sound design and choices are excellent. The author has included a lot of great information about kinetic artists and includes instructions for three hands-on projects. What a great resource!

This app is rich with story, interactivity, craft activities and learning more about kinetic art and their creators. There is so much to this app, it keeps a child coming back to do new things. Not likely this gem will be put away and forgotten.

Very fun app to look at different types of materials to build things and some of the frustrations kids go through as they work on putting items together to make a project. There are a lot of things to do as you go through the app and all the extra items added make the app very fun to work on and build things. I like how you have to manipulate the iPad in order to have some things happen in the story. Fun

Inspiring!

Short teach

I love this app as a teacher! It had a great story and inspiration for students who's talents don't always fit with our typical school lessons. I also loved how it gave extra information for students to learn more. Many students were inspired by the extra activities where they were given directions to make their own sculptures. Still yet some other students were inspired to make a chain reaction. Not only in the game section, but in real life! Great job!

Great App!

Very engaging and interactive. Story can either be narrated or read on your own. When you tap on the words when reading it on your own they change to a larger font. There are several hidden surprises on each page of the story. The Activities are SUPER! Instructions are VERY clear and visuals are given for step by step. Game is fun and challenging with many options and levels. I would add a simple feature to have the green "Next Page" button pulsate particularly when no narrator is reading. I was in limbo sometimes not knowing when to go to the next page. Also, a typo when the girl says "His name is just like yours." And the story is printed with "Alex" nodded, instead of "Axel".

This captivating story was so much fun to read! My students were inspired to try to invent something after reading this book. The narration and music were wonderful! The game and activities were quite challenging. Very creative!

Update: great app with tons of animations

I'm updating my review for the new dominoes game in the app. I absolutely love the new game - I loved playing with dominoes as a kid, and this is just like that experience. This is a great app with cute and professional illustrations. One of the things my kids like with apps is lots of interactivity and animations and this app has a lot of them. It also has a good moral. Is a great buy.
