Non-Stop Commercials Occasionally Interrupted by an Excellent Game

I have never written a review of any app despite using many over the last 5 plus years of owning an iPad and iPhone. I feel compelled to write this one. This game is terrific - it’s beautifully rendered, fun to play, and relatively generous with its rewards. I’m not a gamer, but I enjoy a few games here and there, and I can say that this is the best of the Asphalt series and the best game I’ve played. It gets 3 stars because of the ads. You basically spend 50% of the time playing this game watching 15 and 30 second advertisements, many of which do not load properly (I use a brand new iPad 2017 9.7 inch with WiFi btw, so it’s not my tablet). It’s beyond frustrating. I appreciate the need to monetize these games but the commercial pushes are so constant and annoying that I’ve come to the point where I list the advertisers on Asphalt so I’ll avoid their products. No diet ice cream for me Breyers. Edited. Update. 1 Star. Nonstop commercials. Getting worse. Unfettered greed by Gameloft. Terrible. DO NOT PLAY.

The racing itself is interesting but it’s unbelievably hard to unlock new cars and even when you spend real money, it doesn’t make it easier. To unlock high end cars would take way more money than I would be willing to spend on an app. They need to loosen up and drop their barriers to get into the game. It’s too much of a money grab way too quickly.

I get it. The company has to make money somehow, but it shouldn't be to the detriment of your product. It just annoys you to the point of closing the app. Also, there are too many button presses needed just to complete a race. Upgrading takes forever once you get to a certain point since you require special tools that are hardly ever available for free or even to purchase. Causes you to lose interest in the game and just not play it since you cannot move forward. And recycling the same ad over and over so often does the opposite effect of intention and makes you want to avoid that product. I will now never buy Dell/Alienware or Breyers ice cream cause hearing their name annoys me now. I'd rather pay money up front for an app and avoid the annoyances. I test software for a living and this is a big fail to me

Ever since I stated playing this game i could not stop playing and it has been one of my favorite games on my iPad.I like the attention to detail on the cars and objects on the game. So it is a joy to play AsphaltXtreme.Thankyou??.
AI vehicles cheat, but game is getting better

18 November: The game is improving. I saw an AI rally car bust through a truck barrier, and I still think the loot boxes are kind of frustrating, but I’m having fun with this game again. Multiplayer is very fun! Up to 4 stars. Update 20 August: The game has gotten better with the overclock and rank up update. I finally have a use for the extra blueprints. The AI vehicles seem less aggressive than before, but they still rubberband very closely behind you; I wish the AI would be ranked according to the race level instead of relative to the level of the vehicle I'm driving. I upgraded my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. Update July 2017: I dropped it to 1 star because I'm at my wit's end with the AI vehicles on mastery races. By the way, I have 20,253 cards and still can't max out all my vehicles. I have 50 vehicles but still have 13 vehicles that need blueprint cards to max. I've been playing this game since it was first available. With the blueprints update, I had grown to hate this game. The AI opponents on career and mastery races were impossibly fast. If I'm racing a level 50 buggy on a level 12 track and leading by 100s of meters, none of the AI opponents should be able to suddenly snake me at the last 100 meters and put me in 2nd place. The AI vehicles often go faster than their specs should allow, like a Lynx with a max top speed of 243.1 kph passing my level 50 Peugeot Hoggar going 286.2 kph on a level 20 track: that's just plain cheating! If the AI vehicles are always going to be .001 seconds behind you and can pass you easily no matter what your level is, then the level upgrades don't really mean anything. I didn't max out my vehicle to be defeated by AI buggies on a level 1 track. Fix the overpowered AI, and it will be a better game.
