This utility is a port of a MacOS X Desktop application and was created to provide MacOS X Developers with a handy ASCII table/conversion tool.
Portrait Mode:
Convert ASCII characters into their according binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal values.
Landscape Mode:
Display a complete ASCII table.
Even handy for us PC programmers. Only improvement I'll suggest is to include the ASCII mnemonics for non-printable characters, i.e. NUL, CR, LF, etc.
I'm loving all the networking apps coming out. This one and the subnet calculator are essential. I was going to give it 4 stars b/c I thought it only did one character at a time- but no, just scroll down and it shows each character in line. Excellent app; highly recommend for you all in need of networking tools!
Great app, clean interface. Would like a zoomable table for faster searching, but that's a minor point.
Thanks for the great app. One of my favorite things about it is how it will break down a whole string into individual characters, and then convert the characters separately.
This app is really good for programmers!! i use it as a quick reference when doing low-level-programming... however it would be even better if you could input a hex number and convert to the other formats... there are other apps that do that but it would be nice if this one can do that function too, so we wouldnt have to switch apps constantly... thanx for the great app tho. hope you consider my suggestion.
To get to the table, rotate the phone to landscape view (this is not obvious and threw me for a while). I agree with the other reviewer that a listing of the standard ASCII abbrevs for control characters would be nice.
Excellent for Programmers. Thanks, I will certainly consider buying the paid app, as a gesture of gratitude.
New version requires iOS4. Will not work on 1st generation Touch (unlike the previous version). Uninstalled and looking for a different application.
