Fantastic and Worth My Time

Arcana Unbound

While I enjoy this game and could spend a bit on just what I like alone, that isn’t the purpose of a review. I gave this game a perfect score so it’s already obvious that despite the things I’m about to say, I deeply enjoy this game. The game seems to have a strong bias towards the Marksman class. Marksman are often faster, stronger, have insanely low cool downs, and way too high DPS on top of that. I’ll give an example. Valhein, when built a certain way, can gain enough speed to successfully stay always out of range of most attackers, hit them multiple times, stun, knock off half their health with a critical hit, and then finish them off with an ult. I’ve watched Vaheins consistently get MVP not because they are being useful but just because they can rack up the most kills in the shortest amount of time will little to no effort. It’s an easy, free character with capabilities that can screen wipe in seconds. Then you have your tank classes. Tanks are meant to keep fighting and sustain through these sort of characters yet they often feel squishy and regardless of my level or build, I often see my health vanish in literally a blink the moment I get ganked with literally no time to react. Perhaps these complaints are steeped in salt or perhaps there are truths to them. While I could keep going in regards to class balancing issues I won’t because that’s for the company to keep compiling data on. Other than the balancing, the fact almost every single character can stun or slow (not that I entirely mind it just makes Tanks even less enjoyable when you can no longer play the game any time your party members find jungling more important than paying attention to health bars) and the often one sided nature of matches either for or against you, I do enjoy this game. I despise League because of it’s vile community and lack of curve for new players but you have created a game I can deeply enjoy and have revived my hope for MOBA’s. I do have some recommendations however. Add in some items that shorten stun times or reduce the effects of crowd controls. Add on some sort of “vision totem” style of item in a consumable spot to keep an eye on pesky bushes or give a warning to oncoming gank. Restricting that to just Lindus, not too surprisingly a Marksman, is not exactly fair though the mechanic is quite niche on her and should stay. Up the tanking capabilities of tanks just a smidge though I do admit that some of that can be attributed, is not most of it, to user error. When I can actually SEE the oncoming 4v1 gank (another reason for the vision bits) I can often react accordingly and get away with the plethora or crowd control tanks often have. Suggesting I’m not being Marksman ganked. In which case I find myself being ult and ability spammed, stun locked until death. Things that shouldn’t happen if I had more reliable back up. I often find myself with a low score at the end of the match and high death rates because while I’m doing MY job, soaking damage for squishies, smacking the tower, eliminating minion waves, my teammates often have other views and would rather chase an opponent into turret range than fall back and finish the job when my stuns are actually in affect. However, I digress, you have my review and I hope in some way my complaints have helped. Also... when are we gonna get some love for my girl Taara? I see her alt skin on her champion page but alas I sit waiting sadly with no sign of the skin. Love the jungle look and it’s rather well placed when the best times I’ve had with her is as a jungler moving where needed when needed. Would also love to see more for Gildur. Stun Daddy is best Daddy. Sorry, that comment alone probably just invalidated my entire serious review.
