Built from the ground up and providing every resource I could ask for, this app is try astounding! So thankful for the whole Astra Labs team working on this one!

thank you.

honestly, just going through the list of tools made me tear up- it’s been a while since I’ve felt like I had someone there for me, trying to help me manage my symptoms rather than constantly criticizing them. the design is really neat and calming, and this is the only self help app I’ve found that’s free, and yet it contains so many helpful tools. it’s just really great, thank you guys ✨

Amazing but some problems

Abbeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I was recommended this app my my therapist. It really is great for such a variety of mental illnesses, and it has amazing tools to use. However, the app will freeze occasionally and when I try to restart it, it won’t open, and I have to delete and reinstall it (which resets all my progress). In addition, the toolkit screen has a nice layout, but having to scroll through all the cards can be time consuming, maybe a grid like organization would work better. Overall this is an AMAZING app for anyone to use, and I think it can help anyone work through their diagnoses.

I love this app but for the past couple of days I won’t let me on it it just keeps crashing

Poor

Love it, but......

It’s too hard to read this - too pale, poor contrast!!!

I love the app with the organization, options, and deaf friendly. What it needs though is better visual contrast. I have a hard time seeing the letters. Even with the contrast option on my iPhone.

Love it so far but...

Madaltude

When ever I go to progress and hit tools it completely closes the app so I can’t review what I’ve said or what I put in the app which makes it hard to get proper use of it.

Great but crashes

mgleeeeeen

AnxietyHelper is easy to use and deserves a 4.5/5 rating. It is inclusive and is not only free for users, but it also does not have any ads. It offers not only psychoeducation but a variety of quick interventions including breathing exercises, panic attack guidance, affirmations, and guided venting. These are all quick and easy to access. It provides information for users wanting to assist someone else with a mental health problem. Some of the tools utilize Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT) techniques like having the user write out feelings with “guided venting” which allows the user to vent and perhaps gain insight (Laser & Nicotera, 2011). It also connects users with resources in their area including police, hospitals, and therapists. However, this feature is map-based, and these resources are not screened. As Steinberg (2014) explains self-regulation and the characteristics it impacts are an important factor in success for adolescents. Many of the tools AnxietyHelper provides can help adolescents learn techniques to improve self-regulation. The app is not designed to be “fun”, but it is engaging. The default settings have white text on a background of waves crashing on a beach which while a relaxing scene, may impede low-vision users. The text and the background can be changed in the settings to improve readability. The app does not require a passcode, but one can be added in the settings for privacy. The app does have some technical issues, for example, some areas are missing links (like dissociation which is empty), some tools cannot be exited out of (like deep breathing), and the app locks sometimes. Peaceful, soothing music would be a nice addition to the app. The app does not need to be connected to the internet to work but some features, like the links to resources do need an internet connection. Overall, a very useful, supportive app.
