Really cool!

Oh Tah Coo

Maybe it's just me, but it's seems to get really hard really fast? It's still very cool looking and fun!

Challenging, gorgeous, fun.

Beautiful pixel art, simple controls, and challenging gameplay make for a good game. I mean challenging when I say it - the puzzles come at you fast and some take real concentration to complete in time. Be sure to play the tutorial as the game itself doesn't explain the puzzles it just throws you in. All in all a solid game.

A Beautiful Fast and the Furious [Tapping]

BlueTieCasual

+Beautiful, scenic, awe-inspiring aesthetics +Free, no energy system, and no advertisements +Interesting timing / logic-base puzzles +Each boss battle is unique and different +Overall a very fun game -The rare instant death can feel frustrating. -Puzzles (even rarer) can be unfair and spammy -Decently long loading times ( > 10secs) Essentially, Ancestor is a series of puzzles. You play as a mysterious character continuously moving to the right at a constant speed, and if you tap onto the screen, you fire a quick projectile where you've tapped. You will find obstacles and traps as you continue on your journey, all of which you can remove with a specific method, whether it be tapping blocks in the right order, drawing lines to save yourself from pits, or timing a see-saw to project you over a canyon. Ancestor isn't about the thinking of the puzzles though, but rather it becomes an exercise, the execution of each solution. It will test the player's ability to perform, knowing very well that you already know the answer. Along with the unique boss battles, it is Ancestor's unique sequence of puzzles that make it fun without becoming dull from repetition. These expectations can rarely lead to what feels like unfair situations though. Just to name a few examples, though you're given five chances to fail at a puzzle, there are a few puzzles that will instantly kill you if you fail despite how many chances you have left. Another is being dropped into a pit, and bouncing up to have the airborne bot to immediately shoot you before you have a chance to fire back. On top of that, many of the puzzles try to be clever, but instead it's must easier to just brute force your way through them by constantly tapping, the equivalent of spamming. Despite it though, when put all together, the constant tapping mixed in with a few time-based puzzles provides a sense of frantic fun. And though on occasion it's stopped short by some unfair moments, it's a great game that you should play!

Adorable and super fun

Cool Blakey

This game is super fun and while it gets hard fast, I would still recommend it. The animation is absolutely adorable and the controls are easy to use. It is somewhat short, however, it's very captivating so I wouldn't mind that aspect too much. I loved playing this game and I hope the creators come out with either an extension or another game similar because it was so nice.

I really love this game!! The art's so beautiful and the difficulty is hard enough to be engaging but not too frustrating so I like that you build momentum and rhythm as you keep playing!

Great little time killer... Buuut...

I was first interested in this game for the art style. It rocks. It's got that retro feeling with a new vibe you see more often now and they do it really well. Animations are fluid and the game runs like a top. The developer is putting time into the game and optimizing it frequently which is awesome to see. My only problem is the items in game that are available to purchase. They're .99 per item, which isn't a big deal, however the in game currency (chips) are few and far between. Sure you can collect 1000 on an okay play through however items cost on average 75k or way more. Lots of grinding to collect enough for any real use. The major bummer for me is that I have no idea if the items that can be bought will do anything for the gameplay itself. Are they just skins or are they useful and more powerful than the starting weapons? Who knows, but I'm not about to drop a buck on a skin that has no real gameplay worth.

Very interesting game

This is a very unique endless runner with puzzles, if you get far enough you don't know what puzzles/enemies to expect so it's pretty fun.

Crashes on iPhone 4 latest iOS

Musey101

Stunning visuals. It crashed before i even played my first run, but i kept trying and now I've squeezed in 2 runs out the other 10 times it crashed on me. Awful bugs. Nice visuals. -Yes, bloom was off. Bloom on was worse.

Has so much potential

This game is beautiful, right from the start it blows away most phone games. Game play is indeed fun, but it will get old quickly. I can't see myself playing this for months, at the moment it's extremely fun to play. I wish they would have added some sort of story to it. I know that's asking a lot for a phone game, but why not break the cliché? The map indeed changed every new game, but it's still very repetitive once you play it enough. It's challenging without being impossible, and the items can easily be purchased with the "chips" you earn in the game or by watching Ads for 500 chips. But if you don't want to earn any, you can purchase every item for only .99 which isn't bad at all. Ancestor is an extremely impressive game, I just wish they would have added more story and depth to it so I could continue to enjoy it.
