Update...meh
Weather pain
So I decided to spend the money and upgrade because I liked the original Almanac a lot. Even though the update looks nice, I kind of wish I didn't spend the money to update. The changing of dates is frustrating and I feel like I can't find things as easy as the original app. I'm sure it will get better with updates but as it stands right now, it's not worth the money to upgrade from the original.

For $1.99, this is a truly amazing app. I cannot imagine where else I could find so much useful information. It's initially hard to find a few of my favorite features, but it simply takes a little exploring ... just like the original app. And, I have to say, the exploration aspect of the app is my favorite part. My two favorite features are the dawn/dusk times (I wake with the sun, so it's nice to have an idea when that will be so I can plan around it), and the gardening tips/info. The gardening feature sets itself to my hardiness zone automatically, so the info is relevant and useful. Love this app for many other reasons, but that's enough for now. Many thanks to the creator(s) of The American Almanac!

Not as good as the original. Won't work in landscape mode on an iPad. Very few customization options. Certainly not worth $2.

I'm a huge fan of the farmers almanac and loved the old app. As a farmer, I use this primarily as a weather forecast app, and the old one was the most accurate one on the market. This one only shows you info for the current day/evening. It will show you an icon (sun/rain, etc) for the 5 day forecast, but not even a high/low temp reading, let alone any wind predictions or times for rain. Also far more difficult to manage and understand than the old one. Even the weather, you can jump forward a week, a month, or a year at a time, but no other increment, so you have to do it week by week or month by month instead of just getting a long range forecast like in the old app. HUGE downgrade for the weather part of this at least. Not worth the money at all if that's what you use it for.

I first fell in love with the "old" farmers almanac that my father used. The new American Almanac with all its fancy stuff is even better!!! Good job!
