Best tool for learning songs

The Spotify integration is a great feature!

Apple Music issue

D-Fo

I love this app, and I primarily use it in conjunction with Spotify, and sometimes my Apple Music library. I have just recently started having issues using the app with the Apple Music library on my iPhone. I don’t have a subscription to Apple Music, and every time I try to use my songs downloaded in my music library on my phone, it tries to force me to sign up for a subscription to Apple Music. I don’t want a subscription; I just want to be able to use songs I’ve already bought in the past. Is that possible? Update: the songs I want to use from my iTunes library now are primarily songs not available on Spotify. I obviously use Spotify as my workaround for everything else. I can’t access things I’ve recorded that are in my Apple Music/iTunes library. That is my goal, and I’m not going to pay Apple to use and listen to songs I have already paid for or made myself.

Great but bugged

Happerson

Need to fix the bug where you slow down the music and then half the time when you “rewind” it, it plays back normal speed. Extremely annoying

The BEST!!! Tried other apps, and still use this one the MOST!!!

ESPN APP = SPOILER :/

I use this app to slow down and loop sections of my favorite songs I am learning on electric guitar. I am learning these songs by ear - meaning not using Tabs or tutorials or sheet music. Just the song (and this app slowing them down and looping sections) In short, this app is the BEST! I’ve used all the othera, and their design is totally distracting to me. Too much visual stimulation - so I am paying less attention to my “ear” - or the actual notes in the song. They got it right!! ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE APPS!! (WAY more detail about my use and thoughts on this app and of learning songs by ear - and the importance of both. I believe the expression is: TL;DR ) Chapter 1: It all started in a small, rust-belt town in the midwest along the Mahoning Valley river.... I joke of course...but I did make a long review....but I LOVE THIS APP...and I love the power of learning songs by ear....so I got excited and maybe overshared... (FYI- I am currently learning Led Zeppelin’s song Black Dog - a song I used to think I would never be able to play, let alone figure the whole thing out by ear!!! I’m happy to say I’m about 90% there - at least for my current musical standards ) My experiences using the app: I’ve been writing and playing music for 15+ years - and I will say - learning my favorite songs by ear on my instrument of choice has BEEN THE BEST INVESTMENT OF TIME AND EFFORT I’VE EVER MADE AS A MUSICIAN. I am writing this to help others do the same!!! When I got my first electric guitar, a friend’s older brother to me to ignore everything else and just learn songs by ear....I put this process off for over 10 years....but when I finally started to do it, I realized it was the best musical advice I’d ever gotten. At first, it was soooo difficult and frustrating....but after the first week or 2 of doing it every day, it got better and easier....you just have to make it through the initial phase of not being able to do it at all and still pushing through...your brain WILL LEARN AND ADAPT, AND YOU WILL EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SONGS IN YOUR HEAD. - AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY THEM!!! Trust me, I was NOt musically tallented before I started this - and I DID NOT HAVE A GOOD EAR!!! To help with thus process, I still have to slow the songs down. Some Riffs I still have to slow down to 25% of their original speed, and have them loop over and over and over again....but if I don’t give up, I will eventually be able to “hear” what is being played, and then I will be able to play it. I also try and sing the guitar riff, and once I can, then I will use my voice to slowly find each note - often referring back to the Amazing Slow Downer to refresh my memory on the riff and exact pitches. This App: I’ve been using this for years - first on my Mac and now on my iPhone. I’ve tried other, new apps. Those others have different / more options (like seeing the actual waveform). Some of these options are nice and all, but I still like and use this app the most!!!! The ASD’s minimal design really helps me focus on what I am doing - training my mind’s “ear” and learning songs. This is NOT a visual exercise, and that’s where ASD gets it right, and other slow-down apps get it wrong.... The screenshots of these other apps may look more interesting and fancy and modern....but I have found that the visual stimulation of these other apps takes me out of my practice. It’s also so fast and easy to loop a section, save it, name it, and then move on - while easily being able to go back and load other loops you have saved from this song. (Oh yeah, and on ASD, you are finding the loop points by listening to the song, where as the other apps, I found I would find the looping points my using my eyes to see the changes in the song’s waveform....for me, music practice is best when I stare with my ears, not with my eyes ) As far as I can remember, the look and design of ASD hasn’t changed in years...and for a short time I took this as a sign the developer stopped caring about this app....but now that I’ve bought and used the other “newer” slow-downer apps out there, I realize that ASD just got the design right, & there is no reason to change anything!!! Again, this app is the BEST FOR LEARNING SONGS & EAR TRAINING!!! No distractions - just everything I need. Thank again!!! I value this app more than almost any other. Hope this longwinded review helps someone!!! Rock On my friends :)

Such a great tool to have in the toolbox

A+ .... so worth the money

I love this app. So useful and they keep adding new features. The ability for people that have spotify premium to download any song and then slow it down, loop it, change the key, etc. is so amazing. The wifi import where u can transfer files from ur computer to the app on ur iphone without using a cable is also great! Exporting files u worked on (but not downloaded spotify files) to other apps is also really useful!

Pretty good app!

Seqouyah

To whom it may concern : I would give this app five stars if the would just add a simple feature, and that is to give a pre count if one desires it! Like a 2 or 4 count. I have used this app for years now though, and it is pretty awesome; however, the pre count feature would set it apart from other apps like transcribe, AudioStretch , and Anytune.if they can pull that one off I promise to come back one the review site and delete this and give them five stars; moreover , I will endorse this app as the most perfect app ever!

Crucial to any musican

I have to credit this app for playing a big role in my progression with music. I use this app for guitar and slowing it down and listening to it and trying to learn it by ear is way better that watching a tab video on YouTube
