Adventure really says it all

Masterful
Garrett W 1996

I’m not much of a mobile gamer; heck, I’m not much of a gamer at all. I saw Alto’s Adventure recommended in a Sam Sheffer video on YouTube just before a trip that included 12 hours on a plane both ways and thought this might be a good purchase for passing the idle hours in the air. This game blew me away. The easy, intuitive controls, the beautifully simple graphics, the fluid and dynamic gameplay—all incredible. The challenges scale up in a perfectly linear manner, each level building on the next. After a few months, I’ve finally spent enough time to beat the game. Yet I still find myself coming back to play for fun. It’s that good. Overall it’s without a doubt the best iOS game I’ve ever played. Despite the price, I recommend it without any qualification.

Great! Some bugs
aubreym2019

Usually I don’t leave game and app reviews but Alto’s Adventure is a genuinely good game. Unfortunately I noticed quite a few bugs when it comes to using Izel. Most of the time, the character is unable to collect coins while using a power up. I also find that many times, running llamas run in the air and not on hills. Besides these little bugs, the game is absolutely amazing!

Amazing

I love this app!

Really brought out all the reasons I love winter and skiing more than any season or sport! The beautiful landscapes and calm yet strategic play is the kind of game I love to play every day. It would be even cooler if they could do an update for this game and Alto’s odyssey on Apple Watch, as easy controls could be simple to use with the crown or touchscreen! I hope you guys consider as Apple Watch as another platform to play on, as one to play on truly anywhere is pretty awesome!

Excellence dotted with tedium, laced with panic

Alto’s Adventure is a lovely endless runner with great art and sound design, satisfying combos, and surprisingly deep interaction between them, wrapped up in a meditation as you descend the mountain slopes on your board. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a way to fill time, especially on a larger screen. Smaller screens can make it even harder to tell which way is up for your snowboarder, which brings me to my first complaint: while the token environment changes are nice, you won’t be able to see anything when night falls on the mountain. That rock there is almost the exact same colour as the background, that is if you can see both the rock and yourself, either of whom may be hidden behind trees which for some reason are in the foreground and obscure your view as well as being background objects. These snags can contribute to the feeling that the game respects your time less and less as you play and are challenged by harder and harder goals. “Survive for 2 in-game days straight,” is so much less satisfying than , “complete two triple backflips in one run.” The game also is not at all forgiving of the angle at which you land after being airborne performing these tricks; the number of times I’ve said, “literally any snowboarder who is even approaching the level of skill these characters have would have been able to land at that angle,” is ever increasing. Though the later goals are certainly guilty of feeling like time consuming treks rather than trick trainers, waiting for the world to generate certain numbers of obstacles so you can actually complete a given goal is also frustrating at times, and lends itself to just repeatedly restarting until three rocks show up right after a backflip or bunting grind. Of course, certain goals are more geared to particular characters you can unlock, though it would have been nice for some of those characters to have a reason to be played other than one or two goals for which they’re suited or specifically named in. Paz and Izel specifically feel very unremarkable to me. All in all, I love this game, which is why I can bash it a little. It’s satisfying, artful, and at times, frustrating. It just hasn’t quite figured out which side of frustratingly satisfying or gradually insultingly difficult it wants to tread yet. Everybody will definitely have fun in the game though, and it’s worth the money in every way.

Great game (wing suit beware)
Polevata314

Not actually. For those of you complaining about the wing suit accidentally starting up, turn off 3d touch. It's not random, but if you press too hard on a screen that supports it, you'll activate the wing suit. This makes the experience truly one touch, but a lot of you seem confused about this.

Beautiful+Peaceful

There are beautiful scenes with peaceful music. I personally love the Zen mode because it has lots of meaning about how you can get back up after you mistakes and the music is tranquilizing. This game is a game of peace and tranquility.

Fantastic, a couple ideas and suggestions
loverofawesomegames

Thanks for making this awesome game! I downloaded it today and I’m already on level 11! This game is extremely fabulous. ============================================= I’d like to give a few suggestions to (maybe) make this game even more interesting and fantastic. First off, you know those villages you pass by? You could add people, and maybe even turn those lights on. Christmas/Hanukkah, Halloween, and Easter events: Menorahs and lights for Hanukkah and Christmas, bins of candy and spooky decorations for Halloween, and last but not least, Easter eggs lying around. For that matter, you could also make candy, Easter egg, and gelt hunts that you can turn in for prizes. Lightning strikes! When it’s storming, players must dodge lightning bolts. Ridges that players must jump over (you can revive using helmet) and if they don’t, they will die!!!! ============================================ I hope you find this review helpful! -lover of awesome games P.S. You're awesome, and so are your games! P.P.S. Sorry for the long review, but thanks for reading it!

Great Art
7034923985164

This game has the best art style of any game I have ever played. There are fun mechanics and playing only requires one finger. However, a lot of the challenges take a long time to complete because you are not given the opportunities to complete them very often (eg. catching 3 llamas while hovering). This makes the gameplay somewhat repetitive and unrewarding.
