What if there was a way for you to rate how "healthy" the food you are about to consume by giving it a single + or - number?

PRAL doesn't do that explicitly (nor will any number, including calories or macros) but it comes quite close to rating how "healthy" the food is. It's one missing piece of information that can help you decide on what to eat next or what food to combine to maintain a healthy body.

Food that is high in PRAL (or Potential Renal Acid Load) is food that will force your body to work harder to digest it (not in a good way, you're not actually burning more calories). This puts more load on your kidneys and forces your body to break down more calcium from your bones to digest the meals properly as well as consumes all minerals your body needs for other functions only to digest the food.

This is how your body works to maintain an "Alkaline" environment for digestion. In the long-term, the more that your body needs to do this the more it damages it. It's scientifically proven that it's linked to Diabetes, Gout and even Cancer (to a certain degree).

It's more than simply trying to lose weight by eating less calories or even eating what fits your macros to build the right physique.

Challenge yourself to maintain an ideal Alkaline PRAL every day and in every meal (displayed in GREEN and is between -11 and -35 in Alkabuddy) and see how that will eventually make you come up with ways to cut down on junk and add more vegetables to your meals and how that will give you the stamina, the micronutrients and the will to exercise. Yes, your mom was right when she tried hard to force you to eat your veggies!

Disappointed

App does not have all the foods in their list. I wish they had a bar code reader - would be easier to register the meals and/or foods not on the app.

Disappointed - incorrect information!!! Don’t waste your money!

I purchased this app because I thought the general idea is really great and it would be super helpful. However, I have been educating myself on alkaline vs acidic foods and beverages for a while now and was a bit startled that “coffee” of all things comes up as alkaline?!?! And chocolate or dairy products are NEVER alkaline, however they come up as such in the app. This makes me question the correctness of the information given! Another blow is that from the foods that come up are mainly proccessed foods and junk which I personally dont really eat as much... And I believe people interested in this app probably wont be eating a ton of junk food either (isnt that the whole idea of becoming more alkaline) - you dont need an app to tell you that junk food is not alkaline... (but I guess since Toblerone chocolate is alkaline in this app I guess its supposed to make people believe that unhealthy foods are still good for you?!?) However, when you search for “spring mix salad” nothing comes up... Overall evaluation - dont waste money on this! Buy a book instead and educate yourself. The information given here is crap!
