Publish your Alexicom augmentative communication pages to your iPad, iPod, or iPhone and take them anywhere. Communication pages with text, images, and AT&T Natural Voices speech output can be downloaded directly from the Alexicom server or imported from your PC or Mac using iTunes. Once the pages are on your device, a data connection is no longer required. (Full access to the Alexicom server requires an active Alexicom account, however this app includes 36 demo pages, which are accessible and editable immediately.)
Alexicom AAC for iPhone/iPad lets you use your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch as an augmentative communication device. We offer over 2,500 pre-made pages and over 25,000 real photo and SymbolStix images in our public libraries, which include these pre-made page sets: ChildPre (A,B,C), Child1 (A and B), Child2, Child Intermediate, PicSpeechmaker, Speechmaker, Adult1, Adult2, Healthcare, StoryMaker, Core 280, Child Home, Teen Home, and Spanish Child1. You can easily import these pages into your own online library, customize them, and/or create your own pages. AT&T Natural Voices and eSpeak TTS offer text-to-speech output in 68 voices and 30 languages.
Alexicom is not device-dependent. Your pages can be accessed from any Mac, Linux, PC, iOS device, or other device with a standard web browser or app market. Pages can be shared between SLPs and parents and edited without taking the device away from the user. Publish your pages to multiple devices. Easily print your pages and even use them on an interactive white board.
This is a good acc on the go for kids with autism. My son can communicate finally!
This is a great free AAC app and I love that the publisher has given us more free premade pages and even authoring privileges. The voice is great and would be a 5 star app if you didn't need to pay $40 a month in order to use the full version. For simple communication needs this is wonderful. I just wish there was an option for a one time purchase of a paid version to gain full access to all of the pages. What a shame. Change this and it will be a 5 star app.
I think this app is wonderful. It is precise and thorough. I look forward to what comes next from Alexicom Tech.
The pre-made page sets would be quite useful if you could edit them for free, which it appears you cannot. Without editing, they are not very useful at all. However, with a certain amount of time one does eventually figure out how to create new pages (don't go online like I did and try to use demo), and once you do that, there is actually quite a bit packed into this app.
It's a very good AAC programme that's helping our student with multiple disability. But if the app can prevent the page moving during the finger slide on the screen, that would be more useful for the student who cannot tap on the screen sharply.
I love that this app has more than just nouns and pre-made phrases! I can teach my students language!!!
Awesome App for all ages with speech challenges and with this app there isnt challenges but successes . We love all Alexicom apps :0)
I'm a teacher and I use this app daily with my nonverbal students. It takes some time to get familiar with but once you do it is great!
Using a picture of a child playing in a w-sit position is shameful. It's a position that causes pain, decreased ROM and does not allow children to gain strength and learn to move appropriately. Shame on you.
