Very cool but not accurate

Narse77

It’s fine for getting a close enough quick measurement but it’s consistently off by an 1-2 inches. It’s over estimates and in what I have used it for that’s better than underestimating. I would love to see how much more accurate this would be if the rear camera had the same sensors as the front on the iPhone X.

Crazy cool tool

Love this!!

Nice app

It’s really working

Not perfect but not bad!!

Cool to have a fairly accurate way to measure distances trough my phone. Comparing to a tape measure it frequently is off by less than 1-3%.

Not bad accuracy

I found the measuring accuracy to be pretty good considering this is AR. In most cases I was measuring large distances within 2 inches. For smaller measurements it was basically spot on. Not quite ready for professional use – I will agree with that. However, certainly good for a quick measurement check when accuracy is not supercritical.

Very Cool & WORTH A LOOK! 17 Different Modes

I only recently dwnloaded this App after?a?Video of it on Mashable. The following is my (Personal) Review so far. Note: I will update this Review as I explore/use the AirMeasure AR App more: While it can be quite challenging to use or attempt to use the more advanced features. The very basic features are sound, fairly easy, and have a good basic walk-thru explanation. When you initially open the App, it requests that You point your phone towards the floor. It may take a few seconds/minutes to calibrate itself, but no big deal. Then you are off and running, free to view a very short 2-3 screen & video of a basic “How To” to use, or to venture off on your own, selecting any of the 17 Measuring Modes available to you. If you just make sure to remember that you are measuring in 3D virtual space with THREE/3 Points (X-Horizontal, Y-Vertical, Z-Dimensional Space), and make the effort to measure/align each of the 3 points. I think you will find the results accurate and this unique Measuring App quite useful, and Fun! The 3⭐️Stars out of 5⭐️, was because I i to a few questionable/possible bug errors. Also, because of the need for more explanatory User friendly Step-by-Step instruction to cut down confusion. Plus, for the more advanced functions, the App & Users would benefit from more editing/options to manipulate placed points, instead of just deleting & starting over. ?See My Note at the END of this Review, regarding Other Poster’s Comments about ‘inaccurate’ measuring results!? ?PROS? ?FREE TO USE? 1) The App has 17 Different Modes to Try: Ranging from: • Object/Distance Measuring, Standard PointA to PointB equals? What?✅ • Laser Distance Measuring=How far from PointA (over there) to My Phone✅ • Wall Draw=Draw Vertical Planes •Triangulate between Objects •Laser Level =Hang pics, etc •Personal Height=How Tall is Jane over there? • TV Sizer=Frm PointA to PointB, How much room to place a TV? • Trajectory=Walk thru an area (path) then Add points in virtual space? Very?Possibilities! •Special Storage Areas for Ex:To keep all of Ur floor-plans, Etc.. • AND SEVERAL MORE??? 2) Offers a very Basic, very short Tutorial. 3) Offers a “Step Back” thru individual step deletion (both a PRO & a CON) 4) This App attempts to be User intuitive and keeps the options to a minimum to eliminate the opportunity for confusion. ?CONS? 1) The Tutorial is short & basic, Definitely could use more intensive Step-by-Step Usage explanations about each ‘Mode’ 2) Help Section is Text ONLY and does NOT go into any detailed explanation. It’s more of a ‘definition’, than a “How To” explanation. 3) Tries to be User intuitive, by limiting options, and having exact same choices for BOTH basic & advanced functions, ends up hurting this App more than helping, as it leaves the User with few choices/options when more options/choice could DEFINITELY clarify “How To” use that specific more advanced mode..so, it just creates more Confusion! 4) The “Air Brush” function, which claims to allow you to ‘write on objects virtually’ or to ‘write in AR space’, is extremely difficult to use. There is little to no way to edit or manipulate the ‘ink’ that pressing the “+” produces. Honestly, I’m not sure if more familiarity and time is needed to learn “How To”, or if the Developer would be better off just dropping this option, its that difficult to understand/get the hang of it. Then again, I had some additional issues, which may have just been a stray?bug, dunno at this point. 5) Laser Distance Results are being expressed wrong, and list as inches (“) instead of feet (‘). However, this is an obvious bug error, and hopefully, one easily correctable by the developer. ??POSSIBLE BUG ISSUES?? 1) AIR BRUSH: When using the “Air Brush” mode, to write in AR on an object or in ‘space’. When I click the “+” to start the Virtual ‘ink’ and to ‘write’, the Ink does show in AR space; however, it immediately begins to scroll down towards the bottom of my screen until it finally disappears off screen!??‍♀️ 2) LASER DISTANCE: When using the Laser Distance mode, measuring from a distant point (over there) to my Phone, I noticed that the results given were in Inches (“) NOT (‘). For Example: I measured from a door knob to my phone, and was given a result of, 6”35, which SHOULD READ as 6’35”, this difference in stating results makes a huge difference. Obviously, there is a great difference between being (6”35) Six inches and 35 millimeters (VERSUS) (6’35”) Six Feet, Thirty-five Inches! ?NOTE? To All the Reviews I’ve seen with Ppl complaining about “accuracy”: 1) Obviously, NONE of You bothered to view those ‘2-3 How To’ basic videos.??‍♀️ 2) Had You viewed those “How To” videos, You would have potentially REMEMBERED, in this AR Measuring (Augmented Reality aka “AR”), You are working in a 3Dimensional Space (X=horizontal, Y-Vertical, Z-dimensional space) NOT just a FLAT surface (X-Horizontal,Y-Vertical ONLY)! In other words, You are (for example) measuring a physical ‘box’, not a Flat piece of paper that is a drawing of a box. 3) In the “How To” Run thru, it VERY CLEARLY tells YOU (for example when measuring a table top): a) Measure from PointA/one table edge to PointB/opposite table edge..*THEN* b) TAKE A STEP TO THE RIGHT!.. c) Recheck Your and make sure that Your PointA and PointB placements are actually where they should be touching the edges of the table top from your new/current view. If NOT, adjust them!..*THEN* d) TAKE A STEP TO THE RIGHT.. e) Repeat Step C above..doing so, should ensure proper measurements! Again, 3D space (X,Y,Z points), NOT a ‘Flat’ (X,Y points Only) surface..which is why you have to step right to check the placement of your ‘virtual’ measuring points. Otherwise, it is likely that Your PointA & PointB are going to be ‘off’ and hanging out in space versus ‘virtually touching’ their proper points...Hope this Helps!?

Awesome app

Love it!!!

Cool

Eggy bummer

Cool

Works great and easy to use

Great app! I’m shocked at all of the negative comments. I would t use the app for finish carpentry work but for rough measurements it’s great!

The video is misleading.

U get a ruled that you have L Slide your phone a flat surface next to what u want to measure while holding your finger on the screen. Might as well use a regular tape measure for anything larger that 10 inches. Horribly misleading
