About the history of The Royal Game of Ur:
In the 1920s, British Museum’s archaeologist Sir Leonard Wooley (1880-1960) found two of these game boards in the city of Ur. There is evidence that The Royal Game of Ur was the most popular game of the era. It is a typical race game, the ancestor of the genre. The rules applied in this iPad reconstruction are based on a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd century.
The framework application that comes with AGON - Ancient Games Of Nations is a virtual box which has twelve compartments to accommodate further board games. These will be made available one by one by Private Moon Studios. All AGON board games purchased will automatically integrate in the collection. The series will include various game types from all over the world: ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Japan, Korea and many more.

About AGON:
The title AGON could be familiar from the critically acclaimed adventure game series about the travels of British Museum professor Samuel Hunt, which have earned a cult status among adventure gamers around the world. Although the Ancient Games Of Nations collection is not an adventure game, it can be deemed AGON’s spiritual successor in terms of quality.
The original game of Ur uses what are effectively four two sided dice which each have a chance of totaling 1 or 0 so the highest possible roll is only 4 not 5 as the game makes it and there is a chance to get no moves on a turn this changes game balance and makes it less historically accurate which really bums me out.
Free but too simple And are you really gonna charge for every additional game added to this? And what is Alwuerquer or whatever? The bug: after selecting a game, you cannot go back to the game selection window.
Played a couple of matches against my friends and really enjoyed. Very easy to learn & play. The graphics are nice and the music is really cool - it captures the ancient atmosphere greatly. To summarize: it's fun, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!
My friend recommended me this little game, or should I say: little gem. I wasn't disappointed. The description says ancient games, but in terms of quality, this is the most sophisticated board game you can find. Even though you have to learn some basic rules, everything is fine-tuned and balanced very well. You should have no problem enjoying it. And the best thing: it's free.
This game with a beautifully designed old time layout plays just as nicely as Ur but my only issue is that their is not much contrast between the dark pieces and the game board which at times can be tough to distinguish between the two. Great job though.
this app really helped explain how to play the game and totally helped me with my mesopotamian project *clap clap* bravo! wonderful app!
Beautifully realized interface, gorgeous to look at and easy to play. Works great.
