ACT Math Review

In today’s competitive world of college admissions, performance on standardized tests like the ACT has become more important than ever. As the sheer volume of applications continues to soar, admissions officers increasingly look to ACT and SAT scores as a quick gauge of each applicant’s competitiveness. In addition, the world of merit-based scholarships is almost entirely fueled by ACT and SAT scores; many schools go so far as to publish ACT/SAT “cutoffs” for each of their scholarships. In short, ACT prep is a good investment for nearly any student.

That’s where we come in. Study By App, in conjunction with the experts at Ivy Bound Test Prep, has produced a powerful tool for students who want to maximize their scores on the Mathematics portion of the ACT. In addition to algebra and geometry, the ACT tests math as advanced as trigonometry and pre-calculus. Plus, the test itself is very fast-paced: students are asked to solve these high-level math problems at a rate of one question per minute!

Fortunately for well-prepared students, the ACT is very consistent in the types of questions it asks. Using materials released by the test maker itself, Ivy Bound’s team of Ivy League-educated developers has reverse-engineered the test and created a bank of five hundred problems that simulate the medium- and high-level questions most likely to appear on test day. Questions are organized into the following units: Advanced Topics, Algebraic Manipulation, Calculator Tricks (for TI-83 and TI-84 series calculators), Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Interpreting Word Problems, Pre-Algebra & Algebra, and Sets, Combinations, & Probability. Each question is accompanied by an insightful, strategy-packed explanation, and each unit is accompanied by an audio lecture narrated by Papa Chakravarthy, a Harvard undergraduate and winner of the 2006 Jeopardy! Teen Tournament.

We know that the ACT is a formidable test. However, we at Study By App and Ivy Bound know that it can be beaten. Our app allows students to track both their progress and their time spent per question, all while honing their problem-solving skills and building familiarity with the Mathematics portion of the ACT. We’re here to help you take control of your learning. Get ready to crush the ACT.

Great lectures and chapter tests!...but improvements could still be made
jsadi123

I think that the lectures are full of great information and that it is very helpful for the user to have the audio as well as the visual notes to work off of. Also, the chapter tests and the way they record progress is very good for the user because it helps them know what they need to work on. However, besides simply having just lectures and chapter tests, this app should also include guided practice problems, where the user will be asked a question and the app will go step by step with explaining how you would go about doing that problem so that the use can get some real practice with the problems with help before taking the chapter tests to see how well they do. Add in some practice problems for users to do alongside the lectures and the tests and I'd give this app 5 stars!

Works really well!

Very helpful, great study tool!

This app is very well organized which makes it easy to navigate, and it has many questions along with lectures to follow along with. I especially liked the explanations following each problem, so during the tests you can figure out questions you got wrong right after answering.

Fun and Factual!

After using this app, I really feel as though my math skills are improving! The app is both very helpful and very fun. I love how interactive it is! The explanations are easy to comprehend and the app itself is very easy to navigate. I also think that the "What I Need To Study" section is extremely useful because it forces you to go back over what you need to work on. Excellent and very useful! :)

Great!

There aren't many apps that actually lecture you and also let you take tests after each one! I like this app a lot.

Questionable....?
Your bestest friend

Haha 3 + 1(7) does not equal 11. Someone needs to figure out their math a little better...

Problems Useful, Answers Questionable

The app was useful for me getting good practice with word problems, but the first answer that was give was wrong. It was simple math so I am skeptical.

Best ACT Review

You may have seen other ACT apps but this and it's others, especially the English, are amazing. They separate the sections so you can study the parts you are bad at. This is perfect for me as I got a perfect score in algebra/pre-Algebra but my geometry score isn't that great. Look out for a few answers being wrong (some are duplicates or just plain wrong) but otherwise it is a great app. Would recommend 5/5
