Acron RPN Calculator

Don't let the simple interface fool you, this calculator is packed with features. Beautiful rendering of both the question and answer make your calculations virtually foolproof. Built in symbolic manipulation gives you the mathematically perfect answer to most common computations, with a fall back on 64 bit floating point approximations to handle the nastiest math. Supports integer calculations in binary, decimal, and hexadecimal for byte, word, dword, and qword integers. Calculate one and two variable statistics with four available regression models. Macros make it easy to repeat calculations without any programming skills.

This is the one I’ve been waiting for

Every couple of years I check on the RPN calculators in the app store, hoping to find one that takes the concept of a stack-based calculator to the next level. I had a vision of manipulating the stack with a touch screen, allowing things like easily picking an item from an arbitrary spot in the stack, or editing an item in the stack. This calculator does all that but with an added benefit I hadn’t imagined: each item in the stack remembers how it was calculated, and displays both the formula that produced it and also the result, sometimes in multiple formats (exact plus decimal approximation, or it will use words to express a large number). This makes each stack level that much more useful—it’s easy to keep track of which numbers mean what, and why. And it does all this beautifully! It’s highly functional, looks great, and it does exact integer math. And lots of other great features too... read the docs online. I’m not going to delete the HP48 emulators just yet, but only out of nostalgia. I’m quite confident this will be the calculator I’ll use for almost everything going forward. Thanks much to the developer!!

Great stuff

This is what the venerable HP calculators could have been if their user interfaces hadn’t been so cost-constrained. The three arithmetic modes, exact, symbolic, and approximate (floating point numbers) are presented very well. And, the developer, Scot Senyk, fixes problems promptly when reported. Great! .

The Most Elegant, Capable RPN Calculator Ever
GuyInSanFrancisco

I tried quite a few RPN calculator apps butwas didn’t think that any of them did a very good job. Many tried to replicate one of the venerable HP calculators, but with a single line numeric display, they were very constrained by today’s standards. Others did a better job of leveraging the modern user interface available using a smartphone, but they just weren’t very well thought out. This app is incredibly well thought-out, elegant and powerful. While it does take an hour or two to really figure it out, it’s worth investing the time because once you do, you’ll never want to use anything else. My only criticism is that the documentation isn’t so good. If it was better, it could cut the amount of time it takes to familiarize yourself with the details in half.

Outstanding Design

The designer of this calculator did what just about nobody can do : create something new without just blindly just doing what’s always been done. Thank you for creating any app that just makes sense! Once you start using this, you learn why RPN is such an efficient way to key in an expression, but what this calculator then does beyond the classic RPN devices from the past, is show you the final expression beautifully formatted , with the ability to easily edit the final expression. This calculator can be customized and enhanced. I highly recommend downloading the free Ultimate2 layout on the developers website acrongames.com
