Flexible and Stable

Bob Kerstetter

**About Performance:** Accordance starts and runs fine on iPhone 5S with the current iOS version and on original iPad mini with iOS 9. I use Accordance regularly and seldom experience loading, performance or crashing issues. It is stable most of the time. If you have stability issues, quit all apps on your device, reset the memory, then restart your iPhone or iPad. All mobile devices are work stations, not file servers. They need regular maintenance, just like your car needs regular maintenance. You need to reset memory and restart your iOS device at least once a week. **Study features:** You can read two versions of the Bible in parallel at the same time. I tend to use ESV or NASB in one window and Young's Literal in the other. But I also use NIV, KJV, The Message and others. No translation gets it right all of the time. Of course you can read just one version in a single window if you like. Or you can read one version with a commentary or other document in the other window. The default free Bible versions are as good as any translations. The default free app provides links to Greek and Hebrews definitions. Tons of additional tools are available for those interested in deep study. You can customize the appearance with background colors, text font colors and sizes, line spacing, reference font color and sizes, and on and on. The search is accurate, fast and flexible. I have been using Accordance on the Mac for 15 or so years and on mobile devices since Accordance became available for iOS.

Hard to use

Andrew245

This app is so hard to use. Maybe it is not dumbed down enough for me but when you click on a text you want to go to it does not go to it. It isn't a bug because it is consistent in both the IPad and IPhone app. It is not user friendly and very frustrating to use. To get a passage pulled up you have to search just that chapter. Needs help

Excellent Bible reading app with built-in study tools

RGThrasher

I've used Accordance since the first version. They keep making it better. It's an easy to use Bible reading app with multiple translations available free, others available to buy. I appreciate the built-in study tools. Press down on a word and you'll get a pop-up with a short definition of the Greek or Hebrew. And if you want even more detail tap the Amplify button in the pop-up to open Easton's Bible Dictionary. Pretty cool!

Crashes

Mgspurlo

With the update the app crashes after one use. I understand a few bugs but would appreciate if this could be fixed soon. I use this app everyday for work and spent a lot of money in hopes of a useful tool. Update: Accordance fixed the issue the app was having. They also contacted me directly to remedy the issue. I do really love this app and am thankful for quick response.

Better & Better & Better Still

I have been using the Accordance app for iPad & iPhone since the beginning. Each new release adds greater utility. Being able to untie the two panes is great. I can keep my focus text in place and browse a commentary or study Bible. Search capability of both Bible texts & other resources is excellent. Do you want to be able to find a particular Greek verb but only in the 3rd person singular, perfect passive indicative? Accordance Mobile can do it. The latest release has many improvements and new features. Having an interlinear on a mobile device is very useful, especially since I can choose which text I want to use for the base – original language or tagged English version – and then choose what information (lexical form of original language, Strong's or G/K Number of tagged English text, etc.) or versions I want to display with it. Highly customizable. The only software that beats Accordance on an iOS device is Accordance on the Mac (or PC). Almost everything I own in Accordance can go on my iPad and iPhone. I have a fairly limited install on the phone because of small screen size — a bunch of Bible versions, a couple of lexicons, a dictionary and a study Bible. However, on my iPad I have installed everything that I use regularly. The free version comes with a nice selection of texts and tools. For those of us who started with the desktop version, almost everything we own in Accordance Mac/PC can go on the iPad (excepted are the full Maps & Timeline). The hyperlinks & quality of the formatting make this app a must-have for those who want to be able to take an extensive library for Bible study with them in pocket or handbag. I continue to use this app daily … Bible reading & searching both in English and Greek, Bible dictionaries, some Accordance exclusives like the Biblelands Photo Guide and Bible Times Photo Museum. The developers are very responsive to users and work to give us more features with each new release. The number of resources available for iPad, iPhone, Mac (& PC) continues to grow – and it's quality stuff from many different theological perspectives.

Very Helpful for NT Greek

The app sometimes starts, and sometimes it doesn't - it simply keeps on loading without starting. Doesn't help restarting the phone. And I'm using an IPhone 7. When it does work, it works fairly well. When, however, you have for example ESV open and then switch to GNT, it doesn't go to the same passage you were looking at, which is annoying. Edit1: hasn't worked for several days now. So updated to 1 star. Edit2: I received help from Accordance support and after removing saved sessions, it then worked and I re-downloaded all the modules. Updated to 4 stars.

Great resource

I have only had this app for one night and I am blown away. I have been using this application in tandem with blue letter bible (my favorite) and the Bible.org (for notes and study helps) apps which makes things about 10 X faster than ever before

Having to Reinstall for 5th Time

Lbself

I've been using Accordance for close to 10 years. I started using it on almost a daily basis when they released the iOS app, and I was very pleased with its performance up until a couple months ago. One day, the app got stuck on the loading screen. I tried closing the app and re-opening it, but that didn't work. I tried restarting my device, but that didn't work either. So, I deleted the app, then reinstalled it. This solved the problem initially, but maybe a week later, the same thing happened. Again, I deleted, reinstalled, then it crashed again. I'm now having to repeat this for the 5th time. Getting stuck on the loading screen isn't the only problem I've had with it. Sometimes I'll choose a book and chapter, but when I click the verse it crashes, and it won't stop doing this until I delete and reinstall. Edit: Now having to reinstall for the 7th time. Ready to switch to Logos. If only I could get my money back for all the modules I’ve purchased over the years. I’m not at all happy about having to start from scratch on Logos, but this is just ridiculous.

Unusable on latest OS

Marble player

I’ve been using Accordance for years. I recently upgraded to the iPhone X with iOS 11. Since then, it won’t move past the loading screen. I’ve tried everything recommended in the developer response to the previous review (remove saved session, clear cache, reinstall from App Store, etc.). I really think it has to do with the latest iOS version breaking something in the app.

App Currently Unusable

Whitness7

I’ve been using Accordance for 12 years and have been very pleased. It’s a great tool. However, the App is currently unusable, which is frustrating. I have tried all of the developer tips given in previous reviews- still will not work. Accordance, please resolve this quickly.
