AC-X Mini

AC-X Mini (previously called AC-7 Core Solo) is the perfect Bluetooth/Wifi hand-held wireless remote controller for your DAW based music recording system. It was expressly designed to be used comfortably with one hand, so there’s no need to put down your guitar/mic/drink while setting up the next take. Turning your device to landscape orientation gives an 8 channel mixer section.

It has been tested and optimised for use with Apple’s Logic Pro X, but most of its functions will work equally well with any DAW which supports the MCU protocol. These include Reaper, Cubase, Digital Performer, Adobe Audition and many more.

(Avid’s ProTools is NOT supported in this release.)

How to set up on a Mac:

For WiFi:
Make sure the computer is connected to the same wifi network, then navigate to Finder -> Go -> Utilities -> and open "Audio MIDI Setup"

Double click the Network icon in the MIDI window, then add a new session in "My Sessions" and enable it by clicking the checkbox.

Make sure “Anyone” is selected in the “Who can connect to me” section, then open the AC-7 Core Solo app on your device.

Your iOS device’s name will now appear in the Directory area, so click the name then click the “Connect” button.

For Bluetooth:
Navigate to Finder -> Go -> Utilities -> and open "Audio MIDI Setup"

Double click the Bluetooth icon in the MIDI Studio window, then open the AC-X Mini app on your device.

Swipe left in the display area under the buttons until you find the "BT SETUP" button, and tap the button.

Turn the "Advertise MIDI Service" switch on.

Your iOS device’s name will now appear in the Bluetooth area on the Mac, so click the “Connect” button.

Now simply open Logic Pro X, scan for control surfaces, and the AC-X Mini will be automatically detected and configured.

This App is unusable for Logic Pro X
virtuosoDrummer

I have literally tried everything to make sure the software is properly connected and handshakes with my mac. The app is buggy and crashes so often that I gotta believe it’s not finished yet. I gave it 2 stars because I’m hoping that Saitura will finish the development. In current version it is unusable.

Doesn't seem to startup and handshake with logic 9
allegory_jcw

The other apps by saitara have usually worked just fine. This one doesn't seem to handshake properly and it's crashed logic a few times.

Doesn't work

After finally getting it connected, every time I would try to scrub, it would automatically insert a random loop section and auto punch section. Terrible app. A waste of money. Super sad.

AWESOME

For $3.99, this is a great little tool. After figuring out how to get this connected and set up in Reaper, I am LOVING this app. I am on an iMac 10.10.4 / iPhone 5 iOS 8 Here’s how I got it set up on Bluetooth: 1: On the Mac, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Open Audio MIDI Setup. Go to the MIDI Studio window. Double click Bluetooth. Click “Advertise.” 2. On the iPhone, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Open AC-X Mini. Swipe left in the display area under the buttons until you find the "BT SETUP" button, and tap the button. Activate “Advertise MIDI Service.” 3. On the Mac, click “Connect” once you see your phone show up. 4. On the Mac, open Reaper. Go to Preferences > Control Surfaces and click “Add.” The control surface mode should be Mackie Control Universal. Select whatever your Bluetooth option is, for both MIDI input and MIDI output. Click okay. 5. Start making music. The Good: This is a pretty straightforward app. In portrait orientation, you can control one channel at a time, control mute/solo/select/record-arm, write automation with touch and latch modes, control the transport, etc. In landscape orientation, you get 8 faders plus the master fader. You get the names of the channels you’re controlling in a scribble-style bar across the top. The bad: When you switch to Landscape mode, sometimes it doesn’t get the track names. Not once have I ever messed with the master fader in a project, so I wish I could leave it out and get some more room for something else. In Landscape mode, you can’t swipe left and right to get to different banks of faders. You have to switch back to portrait mode to switch banks. You also can’t swipe in the track names panel in portrait mode. It would be awesome to be able to swipe to change banks of faders. It would be awesome to be able to control plugins from this app, too. But that’s the difference between a $4 app and a $1000 MCU unit. I’m still very pleased with this app.

Great feel

I'm using this with Reaper, Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite C655. Took a few hours to get the hang of the install process on both my iPhone and PC. Works killer over wifi. Faders are smooth and buttons function nicely. I'll be using this live and I'm comfortable only after a few hours of playing with it. My only suggestion is to add track names in the full fader view. Other than that, it's killer.

Works perfectly!

I’m pairing an IPhone 6s+ with my VS-700 console and am able to use my phone as a console remote. Midi interface is iConnectMIDI 4+. Little bit of tweaking but the stuff just works! Nice job!!

Check your computer Bluetooth before buying!!

My Mac Pro has a Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth trackball and they work great...but it needs Bluetooth LE in order to use this remote app. I’m sure it’s a great app if it only worked on my computer. It’s useless to me...I would love to get my money back :(

I like the older version better as there were more buttons in one go. It had knobs for every strip. This seems made for iPhone only. Why can’t you take what you have here and make a updated ipad version. I don’t like the 16 channel version as it depends on WiFi and Bluetooth and way to tiny. I have the older AC7 Pro HD running 12 iPads It works and looks like a full on console with buttons and knobs for every channel. Understand that folks like me will use this on more than one ipad and not just one.
