Teacher approved! As a kindergarten teacher and mother of a 5 yr old I love this app. This is the perfect way to get reluctant students to practice their phonics skills. My 5 yr old has become more confident with her letters and sounds. I use this app in my kindergarten classroom to help my struggling students to learn letters and sounds in a fun way!
Further customization has helped tremendously!

Just wanted to add that we have further customized the app to include only the symbols that motivate my son. He doesn't particularly love practicing his writing skills. He knows that when we get to the sticker board, he is finished with that module. This is helpful for him. A few times, he's been tempted to surpass the sticker board and earn another sticker. He always stops himself. That will come with age and maturity, I'm sure. Also, we've added a chunky, kid-friendly stylus to the iPad, which is very useful with this app.
