A-Beam is an easy to use application but provide you the calculation for Reactions, Shears, Bending Moments and Deflections of the beams. From the very simple beam to the most complex of multi-span beams with any combination of loads applied.

The great part of A-Beam is you are not limited to the only predefined of the pattern of the beams with particular support and load condition, but in A-Beam you can create your own beam with any combination of span and load condition no matter how complex it is. And create a beam and input the support and load condition is easy due to the interaction of the user interface which will show you the beam diagram while editing the data.

Features:

•Saved and listed all the previous beams by showing each beam's Free Body Diagram (F.B.D) on the main screen so user can select and access previous work easily.

•Multi spans: no limit of number of spans of the beams

•Load patterns: any combination of loads applied to each spans of the beam (currently 5 types of loads "Point, Uniform, Triangular-Right, Triangular-Left and Moment load" ).

•Results:
•Reaction at each support
•Shear Force Diagram (S.F.D.)

Does everything you would possibly ask for in a structural beam software. I would love to see you guys come out with other structural apps like cables, section modulus, and truss diagrams.... Love the app. Great work.

This app is great for engineering students taking statics, solids or structures. In my opinion it does what is needed, it takes a little while to figure out the controls but it's an extremely helpful app.

This app does exactly what its supposed to do, and does so in a very elegant and clear fashion. I have used this app extensively for my Adv. Structural Analisys Course to check all my results while studying, and so far i havent found a single error in the results. Unlike most engineering apps for the iphone or ipad the interface for A-Beam is very intuitive, easy to use and looks great. My only request would be an ipad specific version that takes advantage of the extra screen. The results are calculated very fast, regardless of the degree of indeterminacy or the number of spans. The PDF report is great and could easily be used for project reports or other professional applications. Shear, Moment and Deflection are calculated and reported in graphs and in tables. All in all, i found this app to be the perfect solution for calculating all kinds of beams and reporting the results.

Very helpful in my strengths of materials class. But for some reason I can't seem to create a cantilever on the beam. Ever time I change the distance of one of the supports, it alters the length of the whole beam. Is there a way to create a cantilever without the whole length being altered?

The deflection needs to be fixed. On the PDF page the delta/EI does not have /EI. On the PDF page at the bottom the SPAN's are wrong. They are off by more than 3. Thomas McCormick

Great app! Love how much it helps on my hw and test! The only issue is sometimes on the FBD and Moment Diag. the numbers overlap and you cant read them my only wish is that i can change the loads from pound to Kips. but thats a minor detail.
