Great app!!

rbstryker

I listen to the local bands station more than the normal station and love that this app has both integrated. It's very easy to switch between the two. And I really like the alarm clock option!

Amazing!

Great, now I can listen to the same 6 songs from the mid 90's + the latest crap from silversun pickups interspersed with 20 minute blocks of commercials on my iPhone.

I've listened to 94/7 for 10 years now, now I don't have to deal with the horrible reception at my house, plays crystal clear through my home Sterio. Gotta love it. And why the hell would you download this app if you don't like the station? Don't hate

Crashes & lots of buffering

Fenerbace

I was very disappointed by this app because of three major problems: 1) when I click the icon to start the app, it will crash 2-3 times before it finally starts up 2) once in the app, it is often slow to respond to tapping the navigation buttons, seeming to freeze or hang 3) the buffering of the streams is quite poor, taking a long time to start playing, with lots of pauses A lot of this behavior probably has a lot to do with network status. When I am driving or taking the train, or even walking in and out of buildings or elevators, it is not uncommon to briefly lose coverage. This is a typical condition for the types of use cases this app is needed for but the app handles these situations terribly. The developer has probably used some off the shelf player api, but a real radio app needs a better player that allows users to A) see the current buffer backup stauts B) manage the buffer, maybe with a slider that on one end has "start playback quickly" (small buffer) and on the other end "reduce buffering pauses" (big buffer). That would make a player more suited to the mobile on the go use case. I can't stress enough that continuous music playback is the most important criteria for an app like this - forget about the alarm clock and facebook features - make the core use case work well first! For now I will go back to using the mobilestreamcenter website that has a link to the direct feed to KNRK just because it has much less buffering. One indication of how high performaing an app is can be how many seconds it takes from when you tap the icon to when you see the home screen of the app, this rahter simple app is up around 6 seconds, while I have navigation apps that pull lots of data at startup that launch in half the time. This app is just too buggy to be ready for prime time. Another release is needed to improve performance. KNRK (or the parent company) should pressure the developer to fix these defects and this level of performance can't be what was expected. I have an iPhone 3GS and was using the app from on September 15th at 12:15 AM to around 1:00 AM
