No instructions and annoying ad

zeldarose

This game may have been decent but it lost a lot of points with its annoying ad when you first launch the game. If I wanted to know who developed it, I'd Google it, so disruptive starting credits are a waste of my time. Second big issue is the game just jumps right in with an unintuitive interface and no instructions. I was clicking for a good few minutes like an idiot before resigning myself to searching online for a clue on how to play. That's bad game development. If people can't figure out what to do within a few seconds, you need to go back to the drawing board.

A Masterpiece

80 Days has quickly climbed up the ranks to become my favorite game on the App Store. From the engaging music, to the creative dialogue, to even the minor characters I've had the pleasure meeting, this game has it all. I've played this game over about ten times, and each game has been better than the last. No matter how many times you play this game, each one seems so different than the one before, and to me, that quality makes or breaks a game. I would highly recommend buying this extraordinary game.

Addicting and fun

Very well thought out. Reminds me of 'choose your own adventure' books from when I was a kid. Excellent!

Repetitive but somewhat fun.

Think of this app as you are reading a journal of a servant and his adventures but you choose how it goes. I started out really enjoying this game because it's different. It's not like every "choose your own adventure" story. You've got to keep your funds up and get hints as to where to sell items you buy at the market in order to gain money and keep traveling while you keep your employer happy. Items in suitcases turn yellow if you will get a hefty return on it. Just make sure you go to the place the description of the item says to in order to gain the money. It can be simple but if you're not careful, you can run out fast if you try to travel too quickly. If a departure leaves after three days, you're given the option to speed it up but you will pay a hefty price. The story line can be fun and hooked me in the beginning. Soon, I found myself bored because even when the story picks up and your character finds himself in a near impossible position, it clears up and you're back to the main screen choosing where to go next. You've not really risked anything choosing either one of the storylines given as options. You're given mostly two to three decisions and nothing of risk. Only once I found myself nearly out of money and sleeping outside but I got out of it quickly. I kept myself in favor often just by choosing to tend to the master instead of working for the hotel. Not a big deal, I didn't risk much with the master by gaining money washing dishes. Basically, you have three options nearly everywhere you go: Market, Bank, or Sleep and sometimes Depart if you're on time for it. Choosing depart has you travel to the next place or you can choose where to go if it allows. Choose Bank and you can ask for money but risk waiting a few days. Go to Market and you see a screen of only a few items and you can read about where they'd be valuable. You can also complete certain outfits to keep that type of travel comfortable. You don't get to actually dress anyone though. You just read about it happening. The whole app is about reading a story, choosing where to go and watching a sort of Indiana Jones map as you travel along, choose what to buy and sell and tend to your master while all trying to make it back before 80 days. If you don't, not a big deal. You just continue. No big risks in the game which it's lacking. No other screens other than the samples you see, you don't even see the characters they talk about. It's all imagined by the reader. This is too easy a game and gets too repetitive. I found myself just tapping on answers to get through it just to see what happens. You end up just starting over.

Totally disappointing, not worth the $

Tedious and boring. I tried to like it. I played to the end to justify the purchase. But there's really not much to keep the player interested. The majority of time is spent watching your dot move from one part of the map to another...engaging in exhaustingly lengthy conversations about machinery and politics...and trying not to rile your master. The other repetitive actions? Choose your next route, sleep, pull money from the bank, purchase items from the local markets hoping to sell them elsewhere, that is IF you manage to discover the routes to said places, which entails more time consuming and tedious dialogue. May I suggest three other beautiful games instead. Clever puzzle/story games that keep you interested, are truly beautifully crafted and challenging with quirky, amusing storylines. 1. Inner World. 2. Machinarium. 3. Monument Valley.

My favorite game

Words can not tell how amazing this is

Brilliant reimagining with endless permutations

Tkoshark

A truly fantastic, excellently written, anti-colonial and queer steampunk revision of Jules Verne! And not only that; it's full of limitless permutations for your journey across the globe. The number of narrative possibilities on repeat playthroughs is simply staggering.

Would Recommend!

Great app/work of art. I would totally recommend it.

Yes but no

Yes, the app lives up to the description: a choose-your-own-adventure/strategy game with a time limit. No, it isn't the best. It's hard to explain. Basically, the app is everything everyone says it is and has; replay value and crisp graphics and lots of text for story telling. However, somehow it doesn't quite add up to the price. The text gets repetitive; and the trading system and health watch "gameplay" isn't much of a struggle. I prefer casual games; and if arcade games are up your alley this should automatically be a no-go. But to keep on playing it? To call it addicting? To say it's worth $5 when most apps are $2.99? No, not quite. My recommendation? Get it on sale. I was an idiot and bought it on a whim. If you can wait for holiday season to role around, do it. If you enjoy it, all for the better right? But to me it was a bit too expensive for what it's worth.

Fabulous
