Last Year's > This Year's

Jason Nico

The app itself is pretty much the same from last year, all of the helpful and awesome things (scheduling your lineup, artist info, maps, etc) still work flawlessly, but I must say that the biggest success from last year's iteration of the app is this version's greatest downfall. I am talking about the Firefly Radio, if you can even call it that. Last year, the radio was provided by Slingo and played tons and tons of different songs from all of the different artists. This year however, it is provided by SoundCloud. Not only is it NOT a radio station in the similar vein as a Pandora, Spotify, or Slingo produced product, but this "radio" isn't anything more than about a 100 song playlist. The greatest part about the radio from last year was that I got a chance to hear some of the lesser known artists which helped me to make decisions on who I wanted to see during the festival. It was also really refreshing to hear songs I wasn't exactly familiar with. It made it feel very much like a good quality radio station. This year is exponentially worse as far as quality. The "radio" only has a couple of songs at most of any given artist and since the playlist is shorter than the lineup, there have to be some artists completely omitted. You have no optional features to randomize the playlist (you can view the playlist in its entirety though through navigating the list icon on the right). As a consequence you are forced to listen to the same songs in the same order over and over again. Overall, the people over at Firefly, Red Frog, and Aloompa really dropped the ball with the app this year. What was an amazingly useful tool that allowed even non festival goers to enjoy the sounds and songs of the festival was disregarded for reasons unknown. The UI didn't have to change at all, the only things that needed to be done was update the lineup and schedule AS IT WAS RELEASED and to actually provide a RADIO STATION instead of some shallow playlist one of your interns created one night after they had a couple of drinks.

The #1 firefly fan's #1 app

Sararaa

I've gone to firefly the past two years and will be attending this year and this app allows you to schedule out your concerts, see a map, check out what people are saying about the line up, along with important notifications. Must get app for all firefly fans ?

Lineup Won't Show

For some reason, everyone says the lineup is on the app, but mine won't show up. Please fix this!

Very Cool

This is a pretty great app that seems like it is going to be very useful during the festival. It also currently shows the lineup. Another cool feature it has is the 'Firefly Radio', which pretty much just added a ton more songs to my music library.

App froze my phone so I had to delete it.

Cassie.....

This is just a fair warning. The content of the app is great, I only had technical problems. Today a message popped up informing me that Firefly was using my location through GPS, and asking me if I'd like to continue to allow the app to do so. When I downloaded the app, I gave permission for the app to use my location, so that was no big deal. The problem was that a number key pad was brought up with the message (who knows why...), blocking me from selecting yes or no. So my phone was stuck like that. The only way for me to fix it was to delete Firefly via iTunes. If you're going to download, I'm guessing the best thing to do would be to not give permission for the app to use your location. But if you do, there's a simple fix.

Personal scheduler is OK. Registration of wrist band doesn't work. Seriously?!!! If you're going to make an app and then insist people register their wristbands, then make sure it's tested. You have to do it via the website on browser to get registration working. Did grandpa code this and test it?

GREAT & FUNCTIONAL APP!!!

Intuitive-wonder

I really love this app because it is specifically targeting the FFMF and it's super easy to figure out. It lists the line-up's, times, food, FAQ, and so much more in a convenient, alphabetical ordered space. My favorite part is the line-up section and the scheduling. You can easily pick and choose who you wish to see preform and then check which ones are preforming at the same time, which stage, etc. It also helps if two of your favorite bands are playing, and allows you to determine which one you wish to see and shows you ahead of time so you're not freaking out on fest. grounds deciding which way to go. It relieves the stress in a simple, cute app and I am more than pleased with it. It has answered all of my questions, allowed me to see my line-up and predetermine which bands I will see and what time, AND gives you a free radio station that helps you get a taste of what they'll be showing at the upcoming festival (which is great if you know a band is very good but haven't delve into the songs and lyrics). All I can say is I cannot wait for Firefly 2016!
