A Bit of News & Lots o’ Ads

Basically an infomercial with some news thrown in for good measure. Apparently the BBC is now for sale to corporate interests. If I had the patience to wade through these ads, I’d probably learn this has something to do with Brexit. What’s next, the Nike Swoosh on 10 Downing?

I have loyally used this app since I moved from the UK but I am very close to getting rid of it because of the ads auto playing. Why did you change this???
Like the news coverage, hate the app.

The app is getting annoying - now seeing it freeze while scrolling through stories, as it pauses to load ads into blank areas - very frustrating. Then there are the times a full screen ad takes over the screen, blasting out audio, and not letting me close it - I have to kill the app to stop it. Are they actually trying to drive away their readers?
Buggy & Advertising Issues

When scrolling through articles, they will stack on top of each other occasionally and make it nearly impossible to click an article. Even worse are the advertisements. Previously they just slowed down the app to almost unusable rates. Now videos will automatically open without me clicking them as soon as they are scrolled into view, which I’m sure is against some rules somewhere. I even checked my app options and I have videos set to NOT auto open and to NOT auto play. You all really need to figure out your advertising problems in the app.
Ads pop up all the time

Used to be my favorite news app. Now uninstalling because video ads pop up 2-3x per story. No way to disable the pop ups.

I understand the BBC needs ad revenue to support their activities but this app is now painful to use. Ads start automatically and loudly and this made this app too intrusive to use in any setting. Sorry BBC but will be using other news apps going forward.

BBC is my go to source but the ads are long and they repeat 22 seconds of ads sometimes twice before allowing me to watch the news video. I.e wasted 44+ seconds of my time to watch a single news video
Stop the automatic ads

This has been my go-to app for news, up until about a week ago. There are new ads that play automatically that severely impact my experience. I don’t mind seeing static ads, but these just stink! Not to mention the fact that the BBC is supposed to be commercial-free.
New Pop Up Ads Ruined App

I like to check the news in the morning when I wake up. Now pop up adds start playing with sound, even though my volume is off. This wakes my husband and I feel bad. Please fix this issue!
