Annoying video popups

J P 1 1

I have been a user of the app for a number of years, but I have now deleted it because of the annoying video ads. The same video popped about six times while using the app for less than two minutes. I think that it is a bug with scrolling being registered as an attempt to open the ad.

Auto ads

news_dude

New update auto-plays ads when you scroll and makes them full screen. Ads also plays audio after you lock your phone.

Stop the auto play ads or I will never use again

Concord1926

Used to be my favourite news app of all, until now when it suddenly plays ads as whole screen WITH SOUND, EVEN WHEN MY PHONE IS ON SILENT. This is patently offensive and unkind. Most of the time that I use this app for news, I need the phone to be silent and I am READING, not watching videos. If I wanted to be forced to watch ads, I would watch TV. If this continues, I will be deleting the app.

Terrible update

Amber 234

Oooof I think it was an update. Ads pop up and play when you pause to read articles. It’s BRUTAL

Please stop the autoplay ads

chucksrw

I love this news app and use it multiple times per day but if these autoplay ads do not cease it will swiftly lead me to delete and cease using this app. Please take this feedback seriously as I’m certain that other users are fielding the same complaints.

Auto play sound on ads

Henry Fonda

Was a great app up until this update. Auto play sound on, full screen takeover ads. Find another source for news.

Sorry but I find the reader of the World News reader has a very harsh voice

Audio ads while phone on silent

Stephen19162020

I’ve used this app for years. As of December 2020 the app now starts playing an ad, with audio despite my phone being set to silent. Very annoying and quite embarrassing if you open it at the wrong time. It is insane for any app to override the phones silent setting. Since this is the first issue I’ve had, it is the first time I’ve noticed that there is now obvious help of feedback option to let the developers know about this. I’m going to have to delete and get my news elsewhere.

Ads, ads, ads

scnnhrdsacrt

Recently, there are more and more ads. Now they start playing automatically and open on a new page that you have to close each time to get back to the news. So scrolling down through the headlines, it will keep opening up a new page and playing the ad. Very annoying and will unfortunately force me to use a different app to get my news. Please fix this BBC!

App rendered unusable

dddignatio

Congratulations, BBC. You have rendered your app unusable by your greed for ad $$. In what world is it acceptable to scroll through an article and have a video pop up at full volume every 3 seconds? You have lost a reader in me, and I hope you continue losing readers until your UX team fixes this egregious problem. Shame on the corporate overlords for making the stupidest decision since the creation of pop up ads.
