Does not function!!! – COVID Alert NY Review

This is the issue .... I installed this as soon as it came out. I have been using it to track my personal health related to the various symptoms associated with Covid. 1 month ago I was exposed and co tea Ted Covid-19. One of the first things I wanted to do once my test for Covid came back positive, was to activate the service so that anyone that had been around me in the window of exposure could be notified... that’s the way it SHOULD work right? In the app, when your test positive, it requires you manually enter a 6 digit code to “activate” the contact tracing built into the phone. I needed to get that code from my local county health department contact tracer (per the app instructions). Well this is how it actually worked : I called my local health department within hours of getting positive test result for Covid. The local county I am in said thank you for calling, it we already have your positive test results and we will have some contact you. I waited 1 day, then 2, then 3... On the third day the health department called me to let me know I was to be quarantined. I asked about the code for my app.. (even though it’s already been 3 days, and because it took 3 days to get the test results back that means that I could have been passing the virus for the 3 days that I was out and about, without test results. So anyone that was around me in those three days before my test came back positive may have been exposed from me. So I asked the health department for the code and they said that they don’t do that, had no idea what code I was talking about, and that I should call NYS as they manage the app. So I called NYS... they said they don’t have a code. The code if needed (they didn’t know what I was talking about) would probably be given to me by a contact tracer assigned to my case. Ok... Then looking at the 3 days it took the health department to call me back, means that of any of those folks that I may have exposed before my test results came back have now been gotten through the 3 day Covid incubation period and are now likely to infect others. The local health department said that a contact tracer would get i touch with me. That never happened. No contact tracer call, and of the 7 people I contacted by voice or email with at the NYS Covid line, sending an email to the NYS Covid tracking application, or at the local health department all returned the answer of “I’m sorry but we do not have access to the i formation regarding a code necessary for the Covid application on your phone. NYS says the local health department contact tracing folks are to give the code required to activate the application for automated contact tracing, but the local health department is say that their contact tracers are so busy with contact tracing manually that to ey don’t have time to call everyone that tests positive, thereby not getting the automated contact tracing application to activate and prevent spread... It’s a crazy crazy world ... App does not work for its intended purpose- to automate contact tracing in a timely manner to help prevent spread of C19 ...
