Upcoming trip to Aruba ruined – Expedia: Hotels, Flights & Car Review

Back in October I booked a trip for my wife’s 40th birthday in February 2020. I went to Expedia and searched all inclusive divi and found an offer at the golf and beach resort for all inclusive. I booked it and received a confirmation code and itinerary for both airline and hotel. I thought we were all set. About a month or so later I got a message that my airlines were changed and got nervous, so I went back into Expedia and reprinted the adjustments for my trip and also printed what was included for the all inclusive offer from Expedia’s website. To be proactive I called to check on everything and just learned that the Divi resort did not have me for all inclusive. I called the customer support number and spent 2 hours with them. The first rep said I had the package and then called the resort to confirm and they said “no” I don’t. After being put on hold several times the rep changed their information and said that I didn’t have the package all of a sudden. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and worked the situation and explained that when I received information regarding my airline changes I printed the changes and also some information based on the all inclusive link from Expedia’s site. The supervisor said he needed evidence. I email him 7 pages that clearly show that the Divi golf and Beach resort offer an all inclusive and that that’s what I was under the impression I paid for. After being out on hold for awhile he told me that there are several divi resorts that offer all inclusive a deals and he tried booking the one at divi golf and beach and couldn’t find it. I shared with him that booking now doesn’t prove what happened back in October. Deals come and go and this close to our trip deals are already gone. He put me on hold again for awhile and said he needed to talk to his manager. When he came back on they stated they would not honor the all inclusive. He then gave me two options. One was to pay $140 per person a day for the all inclusive package or find another resort that offered it and pay the difference. He looked at other resorts and everything was booked during the time of my stay. Basically leaving me to pay another $1400 for my trip. I was disgusted and embarrassed by how this trip is turning into a nightmare. I told the supervisor that I needed to hang up and I am sitting here writing this review. I feel cheated somehow by the advertisement and misinformed by what I purchased. I feel that what I signed up for was through smoke and mirrors by the Expedia site stating “ only 3 rooms left” when in started booking. I can’t believe that the only research that can be done to validate something is by trying to book something now. I’m beyond frustrated with Expedia and I would like Expedia to get or make this right!?
