WOULD Get 5 Stars IF... – Alpha Omega Review

EDIT/UPDATE: This is a pretty ingenious game. It’s challenging, fun, and, yes, very addicting. But it’s also infuriating. A few improvements would make all this a SIX star game: Allow more than one undo per game. This is where it gets infuriating. It’s very easy to make mistakes in the game. If you’ve selected a letter and decide against using it you have to remember to deselect before tapping another letter. If you don’t remember to do that, that’s it - either that’ll be your one undo for the game or, if you’ve already used the undo feature, you’re sunk - game over. It’s happened more than once that I’ve nearly completed a puzzle only to make a fatal mistake. Instead of being able to undo the mistake and keep going, I have to end the game and recreate everything. And then it stops being fun. There are a lot of unfamiliar words and tricky moves, and it’s not always easy to recreate the solutions. Allow skipping levels. There are subjects here I know nothing about - as others have mentioned, and that’s fine. But that’s all the more reaso to have unlimited “undo,” and to allow skipping. When you have to spend time bushwhacking when on a topic you’re not at all familiar with it stops bring fun. Allow players to pass on a level and move ahead. I can’t think of any other word scramble game that doesn’t allow players to try things out and undo what’s not working. This is a great concept and potentially a great game. But the limitations make it so frustrating I’m not sure I’ll want to spend money on it. If it was more user-friendly - per my suggestions above - it’d be just as challenging as it is now, and a lot more fun and satisfying.
