Great title, but little incentive to continue playing – Boxing Star Review

Boxing Star is a fun arcade-style simulator almost akin in play style to Infinity Blade, with a pretty decent story mode, online play, and equipment that you can upgrade for better stats and results. Overall, the core game is a lot of fun, the controls are responsive, and it provides for a good time. On the other hand, in my experience, the game does eventually force you into the online multiplayer, which may irritate some people just looking for a single player experience, and you’ll find that you hit a glass ceiling pretty quickly online. The skill points mechanic is great, but it isn’t too rewarding with the current scheme - skill points are awarded for every league tier that you attain online, and you only get more points when you get to the next tier, which could seem like a considerable distance away for casual players. This means that some players don’t really grow as quickly, and since star points aren’t protected, veteran players could sink all the way down to beginner league tiers, and torture new players. You can even lose matches offline, and come back to the app with noticeably less star points, and have to start all over. Daily login rewards are very little in the beginning and aren’t really commensurate to the skill level of the players, even with the unlockable boosts. Overall, it’s a game with great potential, but I would have to say that with the difficulty in trying to improve, and a pretty steep paywall for those that want to invest in the game, it’s going to be hard maintaining interest in the game with the current setup.
