Perfect in so many ways! – Playdead's INSIDE Review

There is a certain allure to the grimness and desperation in the art in this game. That’s what originally captured my attention before I got it. I can’t get over the pure complexity within such ironically simple detail. It’s mesmerizing and stunningly beautiful right down to every little gritty background highlight or foreboding foreground shadow. Absolutely insane! I’m typically a console, first person shooter, type of player so not having traditional buttons or joystick controls takes a little to get used to. I found the simple control mechanisms to be really smooth and very intuitive. Though, I did find myself going “panic mode” during a few of the more intense, run, run fast, RUN FASTER...or you’re going to die, sections and found myself missing the analog feel of a joystick controller. I had some sweaty palms and my heart went up about 15bpm. The animation is smooth and extremely lifelike, right down to character movement, dust particles in the air, and specs of debris, under water, that illuminate through rays of ambient light. As far as the story? ...there’s a story? I was just along for the crazy ride so I have no opinion on that. This game is like a roller coaster ride for your mind. Enjoy the Hell out of it, I sure did!! And don’t be one of those weenies that misses out on an awesome game experience because someone else didn’t like the ending. GET IT!
