Great app with upgrade glitch – My Movies - Movie & TV Review

This really is a 5 Star app for function, ease of use, and promptness of support from the developer. However I almost gave it 4 stars because I experienced 2 issues in upgrading: First, DON’T use the “in app purchase” to remove the 50 title limit in the free version. The in app upgrade removes the limit but doesn’t convert your app to “Pro” so you might accidentally purchase it again. The two versions are otherwise identical - and excellent - so this not a deal killer. Second, after upgrading on my iPad, my iPhone version of the app wouldn’t connect to iTunes / App Store to recognize the prior purchase. Mr. Binnerup himself responded quickly to the latter issue (plus points!), directing back to Apple (minus points), but in the end it really was fixed by a simple iPhone restart so I guess he was right. To upgrade I recommend you back up your movie data by setting up the free user account, pay for the Pro version in the App Store, then log into your account and all your initial movie data will be restored. Please don’t whine about the $8 cost - it’s easily worth it. One competitors charges $15 plus $50 for their computer companion program. It feels like a very mature and polished app. The app includes media type such as DVD, BluRay, 3D, or 4K and lets you search for each (I am one of the minority who still seeks out 3D bluRays). Some competitors (Movie Buddy for example) do not. I also like that clicking a cast member immediately brings up the actors bio. Other apps (CLZ Movies for example) link you to external web sites for that which feels clunky. None of these apps will recognize every barcode. Adding those is usually very easy in My Movie, they have a built in internet search function which lists the potential matches. On the other side I found some old VHS barcodes with the same scan code as newer DVDs.
