A great app but has problems :( – Play-Doh TOUCH Review

We received the shape to life studio play doh set for Christmas last year. First, every time you open the app, you have to sit through an advertisement for the shape to life studio toy that you can’t skip. It’s annoying and redundant. Secondly, In small print, the box reads app content grade 4 and up; in larger print, it says 3 and up. It would be far better if the game had different levels so that there’s one for small children thats easier to use than the current single level. That’s my first piece of feedback because while my 3 1/2 year-old is at the top of her age group developmentally, there’s just so much in this app that is too challenging, so I basically have to set it up with her creations. Then she doesn’t understand how to use half of the contents in game play and it came with no instructions. Third, the fancy packaging is really nice for organizing the set but I wish the pieces weren’t so difficult to take out. We had to just dump all the pieces out in the drawer. Hasbro could have designed better packaging so that the pieces just sat in the tray and used some sort of plastic cover for shipping and made the pieces not snap in so hard with just the finger hole to pry them out if they’re labeling it three and up. Fourth, I’m also troubled by the app only being available through 6/30/18 (as stated on the box). If my daughter can only play with this toy until June of next year, I fully intend to ask Hasbro for my money back. That’s just ridiculous. I’m really hoping that that will change as the date grows closer. Fifth, sometimes it’s hard to get the app to photo the critters and shapes for some reason. I’m not talking about the shadows that are created when you use indoor light because it’s no big deal and take it over to the window to take the picture. I’m talking about the camera not seeing and focusing on the items. Now, I’m playing letting her play on an iPhone 7 and an iPad, so it is absolutely not my equipment. Finally, the game is labeled as being only for Apple devices. What about people who have androids? What about people with kids kindles? There’s a lot of room for improvement right there. It really limits their market, and it means that I have to let my kid play with the most expensive devices in the house, as opposed to being able to use her $50 Kindle. All in all, I think this was a great idea that needs some improvements in execution. A few tweaks would level it up to fantastic.
