Yahoo News Digest provides a definitive summary of all the important, need-to-know news. Digests are delivered twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. All the top stories are summarized and presented with the key information that you need to stay on top of what’s happening.

Each story is created from multiple sources to present the essential bits and pieces of information, known as “Atoms”. Atoms are key quotes, images, videos, stock tickers, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts among others. These atomic units provide a unique context to the news. Our stories are both algorithmically and hand curated to ensure high quality, and come with a textual summary.

In addition, we have extended this paradigm for the Apple Watch to deliver top-of-the-hour news bulletins. These bulletins are designed with the Yahoo News Digest's minimalist and modernists attitude. A bulletin begins with a beautiful, geometric poster which signifies the hour using Roman numeral accents, color and diagonal accents. The view is simple with just a graphic and concise headline. The bulletin itself is composed three simple but important screens. We offer the user a two sentence microsummary, a visual piece of information we call an "atom" eg map/stock ticker/stat, and then the ability for the user to speed read further information.

Yahoo News Digest makes your reading experience comprehensive, effortless, and complete, and is customized for both iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. If you get your News Digest on an iPad, you’ll also enjoy a weekly Katie Couric video show, the ability to customize when you receive your news and, in the US edition, extra news categories called Sections which include atomized stories on a whole range of topics.

We are committed to building the best mobile experience and are interested in your feedback.

News Digest and Apple Watch
Pioneer303

I used to like this app and would view it on my Apple Watch. It stopped working and all I get now is "Oops".

Well Curated News
Jimmy Stick

If you just want to hit the high points, Yahoo News does a good job. It is my choice when I don't have time to wade through the flood of stories that make every day's news. The links to other sources keep it coming if you want more perspective.

watch app not working

Apple Watch app is completely not working. also when I scroll near the end of news list, the screen immediately jumps to the very bottom while I was still reading the headline.

"Summarized by Yahoo!" Is Not A Good Thing
David B. Parker

Thought I'd try the app again after not being impressed when it first came out. That was a mistake. There was an article about Mexican farmers using fireflies to save a forest. Sounded interesting so I read it. Unfortunately, it made NO sense at all and never explained what the fireflies had to do with anything. I noticed that it had been "Summarized by Yahoo!" so I clicked on the link to read the whole AP story. Aha! Suddenly all was clear. It made me wonder just who is editing these stories and why? Is it a person or a computer program? Anyway, the end result is completely ridiculous. Yahoo, don't waste my time. Deleting again.

Watch app don't work

Downloaded this for the watch app, didn't work at all. So I recommend deleting it like I did.

Quick, easy news
BoblesBobles

I read Yahoo news digest every morning. Just enough to know what I should, just the right length, and perfect variety across categories.

OK but,
Lithsman

Nice layout, easy to use, mostly regurgitated stuff done better elsewhere. Still, for a quick scan, this is a great app. I do recommend this to my friends.

They pick the stories you see
RPGS fan

I thought this app would allow me to pick and choose from a long list of news stories and search for subjects that interest me but it doesn't. It cherry picks a few of the "top" stories and that's it. If you want your news spoon fed to you, then this is the your app. Not for me... Deleting.

indispensable, but flawed
Qwaeszdxcftgvhyubnjimklop

Pros: great selection of most relevant headlines, good balance between brevity and detail, nice design, brilliant concept (twice a day digests) Cons: sometimes needs major proofreading, often lacks analytical insights, and I don't give a **** about Matt Bai!

Doesn't work
XXX*

Used to work fine but a few days ago it stopped working. When I open the app it says "Oops something happened but we'll be back soon".
