Word Unknown is the second word game developed by Christopher Cinq-Mars Jarvis. His first is Synonymy, narrated by Richard Dawkins, which received distinctions at GDC and E3.
This seems like a precursor to Wordle. It’s an amazing game that someone seems to have stolen to create Wordle. I hope the creator gets the proper credit.
I enjoy the game but have discovered the occasional “buggy” word—my guesses lead to a specific word but the game does not let me enter that word. Two examples are “rape” and “Cuban”. For “rape” I got 4 correct letters for “pear”, “pare”, “reap”, and “aper”; 3 X’s for “rapt” and “tape” but was prevented from entering “rape”.
Way too addictive! There is a bug preventing one from guessing a proper noun and yet I have gotten stuck in games without end where the word was clearly “Hebrew,” “Muslim,” or “Mormon.”
