What Dog Experiment

Fetch!, a Microsoft Garage project, recognizes dogs and classifies them by their breed. As with any AI technology powered experiences, Fetch is able to learn and get better over time. While Fetch has knowledge of over a 100 popular pure breeds, it is still learning to recognize mixed breeds – so if we don’t it right, send us feedback from within the app, and then try again in the future!

Fetch Fun: Just for fun we include a fun mode that lets you find out what dog breeds you and your friends are.

Do some research: There’s also an extensive collection of breeds that contains information such as disposition, size, coat and what types of families are best suited for each.

This is the kind of app you’re going to take out when you’re with your friends. You’ll make fun of each other, comparing which breeds you look like, and posting the tagged photos. We hope you enjoy it and the what-dog.net website as much as we enjoyed building them!

The Microsoft Garage is an outlet for experimental projects for you to try. Learn more and discover other garage projects at http://garage.microsoft.com.

Just wow. I tried doing my friend’s Border Collie, one of the easiest dogs to recognize, and it told me that her dog was a Pug. Tell me just ONE similarity between those two breeds. Please.

Love it!

Pretty accurate with our pups, our purebred and our mutts!! Kids even had fun taking their pictures, the app put ears on them and gave them a dog as well which is cute!

Not very accurate

Thought my corgi (using three different pictures) was a Belgian Malinois and a Chihuahua...not quite

Different result for each picture

I used four different photos of my dog, and got four different answers.

Doesn’t work! First I took a picture of my very large, but not overweight, 85 lb full blood Doberman Pincher lying down with head up. It said, “It is not a dog.“ So giving it the benefit of a doubt I tried a picture of my dog’s head next to a headrest in my car, where you can obviously see the size comparison of his head to the headrest. He has his ears cropped in the show cut (which I didn’t do, by the way). It said 60% or so that it was a Miniature Pincher. The rest were other small breed dog options. So I picked a picture where I thought there was no doubt as to the breed. He is a textbook large red Dobie. It still came up with Min Pin. I give up!! Going to delete now. Waste of my time!!

Terrible

I put a picture of my small 2 ft tall dog sitting down and it said it was not a dog, also it put an accurate picture of my dog and it said that is was a small dog with a lot of hair and nothing like mine, and all the dogs are inaccurate to the real ones. ‼️Do Not Download ‼️

This is amazing

Please keep the updates coming though. Never thought AI could be brought so close to the masses so soon.

Did not work out so well...

I figured I would try it out with my husky mix puppy. She is around 4 months and to be fair her ears are only half way up but this app actually suggested she was a Chihuahua. Come on!!!
