Not so great anymore

For the past few months Waze drops signal and cannot connect. My iPhone is up to date I deleted and reinstalled the app but this still keeps happening. I have used Waze for years this is a new problem. It has become unreliable and can't have an unreliable gps. I'm now looking at alternatives

Every three or four times I use Waze, or attempt to I have an issue with it “waking up”. All that happens is that I get a blue dot on the screen. I have to unplug, open the app on my phone, force close, reopen and then reconnect to my car to get it to work. It’s annoying to say the least.

This app is rough. I love the cop feature and beyond that it’s nearly unbearable. First off I use this app on two different phones, so I know it’s not my phone. I can never get the app to work the first time it launches. I have to open it, force close the app then restart it and it finally works. Same with carplay. Also If I’m on CarPlay I have to disconnect my phone to set anything up because it makes everything 100x harder. The paw patrol get up was neat for my son but drove me nuts due to the same saying being repeated every ten seconds. It redirects my route to the most wild routes to save a minute. This drives me nuts. I’ve started opening it in the background and using google maps.

As best I can tell, this is either a dead app, or is on life support. I’ve used it daily for 7 years (according to my stats), and am ranked -3500 (don’t know if that even means anything). Lately I’ve been noting “issues” with the app, and recently started reporting these. To date not one has even garnered a reply, let alone an acknowledgement. This evening was rather remarkable. Trying to head home, and we found the on-ramp to the freeway was closed. For the direction we were headed, there is no direct way through, sans a sizable detour. We knew it was possible to navigate side streets through, but we didn’t know how. So I pulled out my phone and fired up waze. Needless to say, my first attempt told us to U turn and go back to the freeway. Ran it again, selected the 3rd option that bypassed the freeway. Thought we were good to go, but waze IMMEDIATELY recalculated telling us to go back to the freeway. Repeated this 2 more times, both times were followed by recalculations forcing it back to the freeway. We eventually went so far off course we actually ended up in an area we were familiar with, in the end waze did NOTHING for us (unless you count leaving my wife with nothing else to do but keep driving straight while I tried to get directions). The sizable detour we were trying to avoid would have saved us time over what we were stuck with. Why even present an option for alternate routes if the app is just going to override the choice anyway?

There was a time Waze used to be good and preferred by many. Now it’s the buggiest gps software to run with CarPlay and makes it almost unusable. It’s going on for over a year now. Fix your software!!!

I love using waze WHEN it works (which seems to only be half the time). Half the time I try to use it it either doesn’t work or it crashes. It needs major updates and bug fixes.
So difficult to use. Can’t rely on it.

Wow, I used to love Waze. I used it all the time. Now, the interface is so confusing and busy. On a trip right now, and it constantly CHANGES THE ROUTE in the middle of navigation to the longest choice!!! 3X!!! Thank goodness I have caught it, and am now retiring Waze forever. Goodbye crown and sword. You’re fired.
