“Unread is refreshingly simple and elegant. If you subscribe to RSS feeds and read them on your iPhone, take some time and use Unread for a while — I think you’ll be glad you did.”
— Shawn Blanc

“Unread provides a fantastic mix of elegant typography, intuitive gesture-based, one-handed navigation, iOS 7 features, and modern sharing tools that, in my opinion, make it the best RSS reader for iPhone today.”
— Federico Viticci

SO MUCH TO LOVE ABOUT UNREAD

• BACKGROUND REFRESH • Unread keeps your subscriptions up to date with power-efficient background updating. Articles and images are saved to your device for convenient offline reading.

• SHARING • Use the iOS 8 share extensions to send articles to Instapaper, Pocket, Readability, Pinboard, or your Reading List. Share articles and images via Facebook or Twitter. Send a snippet of highlighted text to Omnifocus or Things for a quick reminder. And so much more.

• QUICK ACCESS • Double tap an article summary to instantly toggle read/unread status. Press and hold to show a menu of options. This is great for quick sharing or for jumping straight to the web to view the original article.

• LINKED-LISTS • If an article is a linked-list article, like those written by John Gruber at Daring Fireball, the article summary shows the domain name of the linked item’s site.

• BIG THUMBNAILS • Turn on the optional inline thumbnails to see big previews of article images while you scroll.

• FOOTNOTE POPOVERS • Articles with properly-formatted footnotes will show convenient popovers when you need to read a footnote.

• 1PASSWORD INTEGRATION • Get your accounts set up quickly.

• ACCESSIBILITY • Unread has 100-percent VoiceOver coverage. Every screen and every feature is available to users with vision impairments. Actions on articles can be quickly triggered using actions option on the accessibility rotor. The Font sizes are adjustable, too, from Tiny to EPIC and many points between.

Reviews

Most beautiful RSS reader
BriRunning

This is clearly the most deliberately beautiful RSS reader for iOS. Plethora of sharing options. Nearly perfect.

Beautiful RSS app
Jaghond

I love this app! It's really well designed, I love the gesture scheme. I love the way content is presented in this app and I love the uncluttered interface. Keeps the focus on the content, and I am not overwhelmed by my feeds. Also love the fluidity of the interface. The only reason I gave this app a shot was because its free to try with restrictions. Else I would have bought Reeder 2 a while back. I carefully considered between the two, but the beautiful minimalistic design and beautiful layout won me out!

Screen blacked out and can't recover on restart
Chris.li.2046

I don't have any account so I clicked on the get an account button, then my screen totally blacked out and the app stays black on restart. Not usable. I have to uninstal it.

Good app - when it works
Lancer383

I have been using Unread for quite a while, and when it works it works well, though more and more I have been experiencing issues with its webpage view. I am constantly getting blank screens that require me to manually force close the app to even be able to navigate at all, and they are happening on nearly every link I try to open in the app. For someone who reads a good number of linked list style blogs, this has become really frustrating.

Used daily
radiojejune

But the in app browser is broken. When I open a link, when I return to the app it remains grayed-out and am unable to use it, even after force quitting. Only solution so far is to reinstall the app.

Pretty but Garbage UX
Adamfishercox

An RSS reader of all things shouldn't be confusing to use or require an on boarding process. Maybe after I fought with it for a while and learned the tricks I would enjoy it but I've already deleted it because the most basic of functionality is confusing.

Great app but more small things would make it amazing
ddd732

App is great. Would like it to remember place in article when leaving and coming back to it.

UI is fantastic
BrandonLN

The fonts are large and easy-to-read. Beautiful, really. This app offers an exceptional reading experience, and the themes - all of them - work for reading feeds. I've deleted other readers and have made this my daily driver, as a news addict.

Nice layout, but why $21 for themes?
FDHAB

I admit, layout is nice. Default theme is so bright, it is almost like a flashlight. To change it, there are 3 options totaling $21. Why such unreasonable price?
