Great concept, terrible execution
Paydro

Purchased over a year ago, still waiting for an operational update for iPhone X. Fires the flash once in a while but can’t adjust all settings. Might have taken one usable shot by luck. $65 lost in better ways than this!

Doesn’t take advantage of the phone’s wide angle or zoom

The flash fires, which is great. It would be better if the TricCam was a more pro featured camera. If it could just work with the native camera in the phone it would be 100 times more useful.

I LOVE IT.

I got it today in the mail. Thank you so much. My iPhone XS Max works great with my attachable flash from Neewer. Please add a timer to this so I can say my phone cold shot on a tripod and have my own self photo shoot. Also, please touch up the Tric Cam camera app. The background have noise, but it could be me. I’m still learning everything. This is what I have been searching for for so long. I can let my canon t7i rest for a little while. Again, “Thank you”!

Not fully functional yet
Mr.racsr

I just received yesterday my Tric flash trigger purchased few days ago. Looks like a flash receiver but not a strong or sturdy unit, kind of cheap manufacture. Anyways, I downloaded the version lite of the app offering only ISO control to test if it would work with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and it did connect to my phone and triggered my flash; soot showed compatibility with the last iPhone and IOS 14.x versions. Took some shots and I had to adjust the flash power and distance to the subject as other system only operates on manual mode which I have no problem but the functionality of my 3 lenses was limited to only one. I installed then the paid version of the app and I did found the other controls, however these are my observations: 1- the app is not fast responsive to the touch gestures, it takes forever to move up and down the control menu. 2- only 1 camera can be operated and the zoom function does not work and this lack of functionality avoid using the great professional potential offered by the array of cameras that this iPhone model offers. 3- when checking the photo just taken for feedback, it takes more than 30 seconds to appear in the screen instead of being instantaneous. I think that there is a lot of potential with this device but it should start with an fully functional app that permits the full use of all the iPhone cameras, more responsive touch control, a better GUI with bigger buttons. First is your update of the app and second a better construction of the actual trigger: the flimsy feeling will not attract advanced or professional users looking for a trusty and rugged device to carry on the field. The ability to create professional flash lightning with this app/device is very seducing but is has to be done right.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

This app pairs with a Tric flash trigger (sold seperately) & crashes at start up. I was excited to receive this, but, the broken app renders the unit worthless. The app ran one time & stopped working. There was no place to color balance that I saw or to set shutter speed as the description says. Since the app will not run, I cannot explore it any further. Needs fixed as the trigger unit costs around $50 plus shipping.

Limited functionality

The 1/30 shutter limit causes pictures taken to be overexposed whether your flash is set at 1/32 or 1/128 and your ISO value set at 25 Prepare to point the flash away from your subject and bounce the light against a wall, or add extra layer of diffusion/filter on the flash to ensure proper exposure

Makes Possible Off-camera Flash

By pairing this app and the Tric Flash strobe trigger that they sell for $45 plus $15 shipping I am able to use my studio and portable strobes with my iPhone, which I think is revolutionary since I couldn't find anyone else doing this. Three stars because the app is still very buggy. I encourage the developer to keep working out the bugs, which are annoying but the app is useable, and pairs effortlessly and automatically with the trigger. Don't bother with the app until you buy the trigger.

Zero extra features

The free, lite version has all the same features as the $5 version. The only reason I purchased was to have ability to adjust strobe timing. I like the concept of more features, but feel ripped off...

Rip-off
Hates "design"

These guys are the only ones I have seen that charge for an app that is required to make the device they sell work properly. You pay for the device. Pay for shipping, which doesn't even ship when you order it, you have to wait for a "shipment", not because it will cost you less for shipping, just them. And to get the feature that would make the device useful for anything other than snapshots, you have to pay for the app. Shame

Don’t get too excited.....
AirSeaLand

The app paired with the device without hesitation. That’s it. Shooting with iPhone X gives you NO access to any other function but ISO. Going to IOS settings gives you limited options. The flash fires, but only half the image is exposed. There is no way to adjust shutter within the app regardless of where I swipe on the screen. I am hopeful that the developer will seriously get to work on debugging the software. I see some good potential for this product if done so.
