Apps tag line couldn’t be more wrong. Poor design, poor UX, random crashes. A site and company with the resources of The Chive should do better. This app, and their website, are both bad pieces of technology. The content is generally good, the tech I generally abhorrent.

Why am I getting ads?

I’m a long time subscriber and finally decided to pay the subscription to not get ads. I have been getting ads the last couple of days. Yes, I’m logged in. Don’t waste your money if you don’t want ads.

I found Chive years ago right after the “Chive-on” t-shirts went BOOM ! I check app about 3-5 times a day. I now own 8 pair of Chive boxer briefs and several t-shirts & Coins ! . I spot other Chivers locally and we both respond “Chine-on”! This IS the greatest App ever ! ??? I pay subscription, gotta hold off FB & The GOOG !

Best app in the history of apps!

Content is good, App is crap.

I still love the content, but the app itself is a hot mess. It is constantly crashing, it won’t allow me to log into my Chive account, and if you get distracted for even a few seconds and your screen locks, it will kick you out and close the app so you lose your spot and have to search for where you were.

Full of ads!

This app isn’t what it used to be and their “support” is nonexistent. I’ve been a monthly subscriber since they first offered it just to get rid of the pop-up ads. Then they started disguising ads as galleries and putting ads in EVERY gallery. Now, as a paid subscriber, it is full of ads, including pop-up ads and there seems no way to get rid of them. The Chive seems all about making money now and completely lost sight of the principles and reasoning behind why they exist.
