Sketch 3D

Sketch 3D is a tool for designing 3D models from your fingertips. You could download models from others, and could also share your great designs with other users by saving models in Public space.
Category Price Seller Device
Productivity Free Victor Ng iPhone, iPad, iPod

New feature: Support using video as model texture.
You could use video clips from Photo Album, or from Internet URL (YouTube URL not supported), and then apply it onto a model as texture map.

New feature: Capture movie from the 3D scene.
Note! If your device could not capture movie, then, could try out a smaller output resolution (by tapping the control pane). However, arbitrary output size may stop capturing prematurely.

New feature: Design 3D model animation with skeleton structure.
You could design a skeleton structure by placing bones in hierarchical relation. Attach model to the skeleton, and then moving the bones to define different poses. Each pose represented as a keyframe in the timeline view. And animation sequence is produced by playing interpolation between the keyframes.

Features:
- Import 3D content directly from browser or email, either in .zip, .rar, .7z.
- Support formats: Collada DAE, OBJ, 3DS, STL(for 3D printing), and others.
- Import/export to iCloud drive, via iTune File Sharing, or to Public area via Apple CloudKit Service.
- Supports AirDrop.
- Support Quad faces.
- Smooth surfaces using Subdivision.
- Mirroring editing.
- 2-fingers vertex movement, 3 or 4-fingers planar shape creation.
- Versatile multi-touches drag-through-space gestures to support editing and changing viewing angle at the same time.
- Flexible face strip drawing.
- Stitching boundary faces. Stitch triangle soap into connected faces. Stitch over edge or vertex to form a larger face.
- Stitching Triangles to Quads.
- Loop Cut faces.
- Bevel edges.
- Extrude faces or edges.
- Revolve (Spin).
- Vertex Smoothing.
- Vertex Slide along edges.
- Crease Editing after mesh subdivision.
- Split mesh from, or Join mesh to the editing one.
- Support hierarchical mesh node structure.
- Direct vertex color editing when texture map is not used.
- Edit texture map UV coordinates, include atlas generation.
- 3D Text generation.
- Scene interaction with your created shape.
- Design Animation with skeleton structure.
- Capture movie from the 3D scene.
- Support using video as model texture map.

WOW!

I have not even begun to explore all of the features available in this app, but as a veteran 3D CAD user I can tell that the most important functionality is in the app, waiting to be discovered. When comprehensive tutorials become available, I would give the app TEN stars (if I could), and I would pay a very hefty ONE TIME FEE (Subscription plans are doomed to fail; TAKE NOTE!), if the app is converted into a paid-product. Sketch 3D is what the iPad has needed for a while now. Sorry, OnShape, 3D Creator, and others like those are stupidly modeled on a “pay-us-forever” plan, and as good as these may perform, the hobbyist is not going to pay for a subscription, even if they can afford it, like I can, since I won’t buy-in to any software subscription plan, EVER!

Lasso

This app probably the closest to best for poly modeling for the iPad, and looked almost every one there. It feels that app was designed mostly for touch usage, but with pencil I always want to use as a mouse in desktop apps like Maya, Cinema 4D, or 3DS Max, lasso selection, or paint as C4D, to shorten the time of selections. Custom background color would be a plus as well. Honestly already with just this app, pre-modeling could be done on the iPad, and it is exactly what I was looking for. Onscreen buttons could be helpful as well, like hold shift and drag to extrude, double tap to loop selection. Anyway huge thanks for the effort you’re doing to make the app. Also maybe better to rename it, App Store has the same name app, with less functionality and paid one. Can’t imagine that big companies still not here.

Great
#Supermanisalive

I love it. I love it so much! I think it’s a great idea. In fact, I love it so much it’s inspired me to start creating something like it. Do you guys have any advice on how to make it? I could really use some as a beginner programmer.

Idk
Juli-chan

I have literally no idea how to use this or how to do anything on it I couldn’t find a tutorial to help me out. I think this app has potential but I just don’t know how to work it.

Impossible to learn on your own - don’t bother trying
Dr. TEC

Through the years, as a radiologist, I have learned, if never mastered presentation and graphical applications from the first days of Aldo’s Persuasion and the free versions of MS PowerPoint that killed off the competition. I cut my computer teeth on the original 128K Mac and have since used a wide variety of top end Macs and Windows boxes. I much prefer the Mac OS environment. I taught myself pixel based graphics on Adobe Photoshop and vector graphics on Adobe Illustrator. Still have older versions of both, unused for some time. Apple Pixelmator and Graphic, together with Procreator, Photo, Pages, Notes, and OsiriX MD function seamlessly with Keynote to meet almost any needs I have. But there is an unfilled niche in my graphics repertoire for 3D sketching to do some more sophisticated 3D modeling and illustrations of anatomical distortions resulting from breast imaging. The limited demo, and bargain price of this software seemed a no-brained when it came to adding 3D sketching, but if one doesn’t already know 3D imaging, irrespective of any knowledge you may have with the graphics applications mentioned, you WILL find out that the limited description of the tool set available from the developer, and the seemingly total lack of any useful basic instruction available from the usual on line resources (YouTube, user groups, etc.) leave you absolutely on your own if you intend to teach yourself the basic use of this software. If time is money, save both and buy some real commercial 3D at has available resources to actually make it useful for a novice 3D graphics user. The program looks great, undoubtedly is advanced and, in the right hands, a powerful and affordable option, but don’t waste your time and money I’d you aren’t either a genius graphic artist or already experienced in 3D graphics rendering. Sorry, just my experience learned the hard way in this case.

Very confusing
Caz Fhey

I’d like to use the app, but it’s very confusing and I can’t figure out anything. Could you please make a tutorial or something?

How do you merge objects?
Brandon Michael panek

Just wondering, cuz I need help doing that

It is good but it needs tutorials
ren viars

This app is good and I like how it is free, and stuff but i had one problem when installing this app. THERE ARE NO TUTORIALS

So confusing
