Reviews

Thanks for rewarding my patronage with endless requests for review.

I paid full price, twice. This app is notably worse, in terms of content and form, than the old ODE that got outpaced by iOS updates. Here’s the review you’ve asked for 17 times a day for the past two years: I hate you. Thanks for nothing, jerks.

Great, but ...

can we get the full OED now please?

Excellent app!

I have other dictionaries, but for a number of words I am looking up, (and I enjoy reading older texts such as the Early Greek Fathers) this is the only one which will have the word's definition. You have to get rid of the apps as they are annoying and cumbersome, so go with the upgrade. The word of the day must be randomly generated because the words they choose are sometimes basic or a spelling derivations of another word (and that is all the info provided on that word, the alternate spelling.)

Good dictionary. Interface? Not so much...
brian_8155

Mobi systems has updated the interface for all their dictionaries (I also own the Dorland’s product). Both get much less use these days as I find the interface frustrating to use. Absolutely do not care for the ‘home’ screen, slow fuzzy word search and difficulty in clearing and entering words manually (fuzzy search off). Tried the speech recognition and was initially impressed, but was quickly outdone by words atypical of the most common usage. Pop-up messages ask me frequently to rate app 5 stars.

Good stuff

Not as many citations as I’d like but still does the trick.

love it

Your joking right? Most reviews require validating details. But this? Well it’s simply the standard of excellence requiring. One word description. It’s simply the Oxford, requiring nothing more.

Use it many times each week.

More dictionaries is better. This one is excellent.

Bad. Don't buy
markov1234567

Very disturbing pop up to beg for rating. The app is getting worst UI in every update so not deserve for one star. Don't buy. Edit: I have many iOS devices. And the app prompt for rating for ALL OF THEM. Annoying! Don't buy.

Issue with searches
rilkepoet

If I am looking up several words one at a time, if I click on the search bar and click on the X button to clear the search bar and search for a new word, the app kicks me off the search bar and disables the keyboard, so I have to click on the search bar again to type in the new word. This is extremely annoying.
