Try 'Across the Aisle'.. Same idea but without all the ads.
I enjoy the content on RCP, but the ads are crippling. They eat up my data on intrusive, pop-up after pop-up, nonsense. Most of the people who use this app are probably mobile, making the problem worse with the slower speed off of wifi. As a person who just wants to read, it's aggravating that reading has become a game of whack a mole with me trying to close videos, rescroll, close pop-up, rescroll, start over. This happens with about 50% of content, and wouldn't be so aggravating if it wasn't a chore just to keep the ads managed.
The content is great, but the pop-up ads are now out of control and make the app impossible to use.
I understand the need for ad revenue to fund free sites like Real Clear Politics (my favorite news aggregate online) but a 30 second video ad popping up every 3.5 seconds? It makes the app truly useless if I can’t actually read the articles... The RCP app has consistently been bad. I deleted it last year because it crashed constantly. Decided to give it a try again, but... not sure why they can’t get a decent developer to make this app more usable.
I loved the content and read it daily for years but I have given up and deleted the app due to the incessant, intrusive video ads that made reading anything impossible. Isn’t there some way to balance revenue with value for the consumer?
Please update your app, it is so old and isn't compatible with iOS anymore
This app is clunky, fiddly and buggy. The most annoying part of it is the simply atrocious browser built into it (there isn't even a "back" option!). However, the content is first-rate.
You can't even read an article without tons of ads constantly appearing where you much click to remove them or they take up the entire screen, ridiculous get more funding some other way.
This app is OK, but it seems to be missing the best feature of the RealClearPolitics website: The RealClearPolitics Average of polls. I use their mobile website instead of the app.
