Convenient app but fees omg

They seem to have access to a couple of different restaurants which is really nice. A lot of these apps seem to just recycle through the same restaurants in town. The only thing that I find frustrating is the fees. I realize they have to make money but it would be nice if they just rolled every of the charges into one simple fee. Between the service fee and delivery fees, it’s awfully confusing. I realize this is how most of the apps operate but it would be nice if pricing was more straightforward.

This is the second time I’ve ordered two of the three tacos meal (one for me and one for my husband), paid for that, and Chipotle makes and bags up two tacos (not six, TWO) for the delivery driver. The last time, I had to fight w DoorDash and Chipotle that I paid for six and got two and that that was not what should have happened. Yet again, it happens. Way to Go Chipotle… STELLAR PERFORMANCE YET AGAIN. I can’t wait to do round 2 of calls re: this stupidity.

Postmates is essentially just a worse front end for Uber Eats now, except they charge more money. Doordash has a service fee of 15% of subtotal, with a minimum of $3 and no max. Uber eats is 15% as well, with a minimum of $3 and a max of $5. The delivery fees vary between the two apps, but they’re usually within a dollar or so of each other, making which is the cheapest somewhat of a draw. Meanwhile, Postmates (which is just Uber eats; same drivers, same payment system, same backend) charges a service fee of 23%, capped at $7, and their delivery fees are about $1.50 more than the worst option between Eats and Dash. 100% of the tips from all 3 apps go to the drivers, and they use the exact same drivers as Uber Eats, so it isn’t like their drivers get paid better, and the food costs the same across the three apps, and they make no claim to pay the restaurant more, so it isn’t like the restaurant benefits. I don’t understand how this app can be just so transparently worse than its competition, some of which is owned by the same company. Just why?

I don’t like that when I order it gives me a delivery time & then it changes because of other deliveries that the drive is told to do which changes how long until I get my order.

I ordered a meal for my family which was delivered to the wrong address. Postmates chat auto replied that they would make sure my order was refunded eventually. They told me they could not help me resubmit my order wouldn’t help with delivery fee, there was literally nothing done to remedy the situation and now I have two very hungry kids and nothing to feed them. They went so far as to advise that I not order food from the same vendor when it was in no way shape or form the vendors fault. They also said they would take disciplinary action if the delivery driver was “found guilty”. What?! Of a mistake? I don’t need the poor driver disciplined. I need someone to make this situation better and rush me the food I ordered. To top it all off when I asked if the responses were automated and if I could speak to a supervisor they didn’t respond at all. I’m livid. All for nearly $20 of service fees, taxes, and delivery fees before I tip the driver. Really Postmates?

I should’ve deleted the app on Postmates was acquired by Uber. The same incompetence that Uber brought to ridesharing is now with Postmates. The worst part of it is: there are estimates for delivery are never right. On average orders arrive 30 minutes after the original estimate. Orders get canceled often. I assume because the restaurant wants to choose between real revenue and the fees the Uber charges them.
