It’s Okay

xlexie7

It seems similar to most other games of its genre, it does have a very cohesive and nice look to it but I didn’t feel it was worth the extra cost! Cute game that I personally got bored of quickly which was somewhat disappointing, I wanted to like it more! Well made though☺️

BEST IOS GAME EVER!!!

Colt3945

Seriously, for 3.99 it’s probably the best experience on the IOS store. It really brings me back to the classic Sim City games. I absolutely love it, and no micro transactions, no long cool downs, no DRM, it’s a worthy purchase.

Fun but.. *eyeroll*

Somewhat entertaining but all of the important characters like property owners, bankers, etc are men. Also the banker says “say hi to carol for me” so I’m assuming my character is also supposed to be male. Buildings could also use some more variety

Legit sim game.

Throwback to SimCity 2000.

Pocket City suits my style!

Fun and cute game. Love sandbox mode (dislike quests, etc.). Appreciate the nature sounds, too. A bargain for the price.

A rare find — An honest game without a money-grab

iPhone games USE to be good and fun. Then big corporations bought up all the cool developers and churned out “freemium” games in an effort to sucker people into getting hooked and then paying out the nose for chests, coins, and other forms of ‘game cheats’ I order to keep playing or advancing. Nowadays I pretty much avoid any game that is “free” but has “in-app purchases, because they ALEAYS end in disappointment. NOT THIS GAME. Finally, a developer who wants to make money the decent way — by building a quality game and selling it. I’ll keep an eye on this developer for sure.

Watered-down SimCity

When I saw the lack of “in-app purchases” next to the purchase button, my eyes lit up like Hiroshima. I hate the “free”-ness of other games that share a genre with this game, and I think liking microtransactions is a symptom of clinical insanity. Therefore, it is with bitter disappointment that I have to say that Pocket City is incredibly mediocre. It has all the elements of a standard city tycoon with nothing to stand out. It doesn’t even have enough polish to look competent. Alright now that the second half of this review’s title is explained, time to tackle the first half. Well, for one thing, progression doesn’t feel rewarding. In other games of this sort, unlocking something new felt like adding a new machanic to deal with, in this game I treated like it was just another thing to occasionally place between my blocks. Aside from disasters, where you literally can do nothing about them, except buy back the stuff they destroy, which isn’t a problem at all if you have any money whatsoever. I guess I just want a more original idea. You’d need a football stadium’s worth of people to count the number of SimCity clones that exist with fingers and even then some toes would need to get involved, but there are plenty games with an incredibly creative idea and charming feel that use the “give them the game, sell them the gems” business model. This game feels cheap, and it uses a business model that I prefer. I guess it’s a step in the right direction for mobile tycoon games, but boy-oh-boy is it a crappy step.

Hits the sweet spot

This game manages to hit the sweet spot between ease of use and management options. There's a good balance between layout and in depth features- it really seems like it was designed for mobile rather than a desktop game that got tweaked and pared down to "fit" mobile devices.

Overall Enjoyable Sim City Game

Gjenfødt00100

Its hard to compare this game to Sim City (the game it was obviously created to compete with) however it managed to give me something to do for about a week before I managed to unlock everything on the hardest difficulty. One very strange thing about this title is that most of the buildings effect overall satisfaction to zones even though they aren’t even placed in the area. Schools and Universities Fire Departments, Police Stations, Hospitals and recreational buildings all work that way. In fact.. the only things that seem to matter where you put them is the Pollution and Traffic Control buildings.

Absolutely Innovative.
